Michelle ‘The Karate Hottie’ Waterson shows slick ‘trick kick’

Karate as a martial art is not as common in MMA as say Muay Thai or boxing but many high level fighters out there have been able to use it with great success. From Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and Lyoto Machida to all time great GSP as well as surging women’s straw weight fighter Michelle ‘The Karate Hottie’ Waterson, karate most definitely has its place in MMA.

In this video, we see top ranked women’s straw weight ‘The Karate Hottie’ demonstrate a very cool karate kick combo that would not be easy to pull off.

The combination starts with a front kick to the body, followed by a jumping roundhouse kick to the head that would very likely knock your opponent out cold if it lands.

Though, like previously mentioned, karate is not a very common fighting style in MMA but that may in fact be one of its greatest strengths as opponents will not be used to fighting someone with that style.

Of course, karate is only going to be effective if you have a well rounded game in other areas especially in the realm of grappling. Another great thing about karate and other traditional martial arts is the character building aspect and respect it teaches that may be lacking in more modern martial arts.

Michelle Waterson is currently coming off a huge win over Paige VanZant in December of 2016. Her next bout is against the always tough Rose Namajunas coming up soon on April 15, 2017 at UFC on Fox 24.
