The top 10 old school UFC legends
The UFC was a completely different thing back in the day and not only were the rules and regulations quite different, but it was also marketed completely differently too and was watched by a much smaller audience.
Known colloquially as ‘the Dark Ages’ (well at least part of that era), not a lot of people were watching the UFC before Zuffa purchased the company from SEG in 2001, but still, a lot of classic fights occurred between great fighters who are now considered legends of the sport.
In this video, we see the top 10 legends from the days of old, whom many new fans of the sport may not recognize but they most definitely deserve their share of respect.
As previously stated, many of these guys are somewhat unsung heroes and pioneers of the sport and without them, the UFC wouldn’t be where it is today.
The guys in the old school days didn’t make anywhere near the same money the guys are making today either and simply did it for the love of it.
Guys like Conor McGregor who are acting like jackasses and making millions probably wouldn’t be in the position they’re in if it weren’t for the guys in this video who put their blood, sweat, and tears into it and didn’t receive much back in return.
One of the top fan-favorites from the old school days appearing in this video is Tank Abbott. If I remember correctly, he was also the first guy to wear gloves too so he is a pioneer in more ways than one.
Of course, though, the number one old school UFC legend is obviously going to be Royce Gracie. Gracie dominated the first few UFCs and not only turned the world of martial arts on its head but also changed everything we knew about fighting.
