Top 5 worst choices ever made inside the Octagon

Fighting in a cage in front of millions of people is a high stress situation to say the least. With so much on the line it is not surprising that there have been some terrible choices made in the cage over the history of the UFC.

In this video from UFC Now with former fighters Kenny Florian, Brendan Schaub and host Jenn Brown, they break down their lists of the top bad choices ever made inside the UFC Octagon.

Kenny’s list include a couple tactical errors including Chael Sonnen’s sloppy back fist against Anderson Silva as well as Kenny’s own fight against Sean Sherk that saw him run head first into the Octagon post.

Also on his list is a terrible premature stoppage by a lesser known ref as well as the time Paul Daley sucker punched Josh Koscheck after the bell that earned him a lifetime UFC ban.

Florian’s top pick for the worst choice ever is when Anderson Silva was clowning around in his first fight against Chris Weidman which led to him being knocked out cold. This fight ended the reign of one of the sport’s greatest fighters of all time in probably the most embarrassing loss ever.

Schaub’s list includes the time Matt Mitrione shot in for an ill thought out, sloppy take down against Ben Rothwell and was subsequently submitted with a front choke in a fight he was winning on the feet.

Schaub also includes Dennis Hallman’s terrible choice to wear a speedo in his fight against Brian Ebersole that led to a ‘wardrobe malfunction’ mid fight.

Also on Schaub’s list are a pair of Rousimar Palhares’ poor choices in the octagon that saw him prematurely celebrate and jump on the cage in a fight he thought was over but wasn’t. Another poor choice made by Palhares was when he called for a timeout in his fight against Marquardt and he responded by blasting him in the face, knocking him out.
