It’s Wing Chun vs. Western Boxing at its best in this explosive scene when Ip Man, Donnie Yen, takes on crooked property developer Frank, Mike Tyson, in the iconic martial arts franchise’s highly anticipated third installment, Ip Man 3.

Donnie Yen ignites the screen yet again with the return to his role as Ip Man— the real-life Wing Chun Kung Fu master who mentored Bruce Lee. This clash of styles makes for one of the most entertaining fight scenes ever played out on the silver screen.

Tyson, who retired from boxing in 2005, has returned to the spotlight through acting in various roles and has appeared in some big blockbuster movies, such as The Hangover and Entourage. Tyson believes his fighting background has helped him in his new ventures: “I’m used to being under pressure. I’m pretty composed. I believe that gave me an edge.”

Although the film has an abundance of Wing Chun Kung Fu, Yen explains he is an actor first and a martial arts professional second: “I mean at the end of the day, acting is acting, right? The most important [aspect] is just playing the character. I think there’s an advantage of being a martial arts actor, because not only do you have to craft your acting skills, but you’ve also got to know enough of martial arts.”

Surprisingly, Tyson’s involvement in the film came in an oddly fortuitous way:

“The boxing great opened an account on a Chinese blog site called Weibo and posted messages asking about the best fighters in China. The name Donnie Yen would come up and soon enough, and those threads would grab the attention of Raymond Wong, who got in touch with Tyson and pitched the idea for Ip Man 3— pitting him in an epic onscreen battle of styles with Donnie Yen. The idea seemed to gel with the face tattoo-brandishing bruiser, and he has taken the role. In fact, Tyson has expressed his enthusiasm in a statement saying, ‘Wait for me, I am coming. Thank you for introducing me to Chinese kung fu.’”
