Dana White names UFC’s most stacked division

Consensus opinion on the deepest UFC weight division has moved around some over the past two decades, with most people today likely voting for lightweight. However, UFC president Dana White recently joined Laura Sanko during an online chat with ESPN+ subscribers, and offered a different opinion.

“The 155-pound division is so stacked, but the cool thing that’s happened over the last couple of years, the middleweight division has just become absolutely incredible,” said White, as transcribed by Yahoo Sports. “You look at the top ten, No. 10 is Kevin Holland and you work your way up to the champion Israel Adesanya. I think, right now, without a doubt it’s the most stacked division in the UFC.”

This is the UFC’s middleweight Top 15 White referenced:
Champion Israel Adesanya
1. Robert Whittaker
2. Paulo Costa
3. Jared Cannonier
4. Darren Till
5. Marvin Vettori
6. Jack Hermansson
7. Derek Brunson
8. Kelvin Gastelum
9. Uriah Hall
10. Kevin Holland
11. Chris Weidman
12. Edmen Shahbazyan
13. Omari Akhmedov
14. Brad Tavares
15. Ian Heinisch

This is the lightweight Top 15:
Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov
1. Justin Gaethje
2. Dustin Poirier
3. Charles Oliveira
4. Conor McGregor
5. Tony Ferguson
6. Dan Hooker
7. Rafael Dos Anjos
8. Paul Felder
9 . Diego Ferreira
10. Al Iaquinta
11. Kevin Lee
12. Beneil Dariush
13. Islam Makhachev
14. Gregor Gillespie
15. Drew Dober

The lightweight champ and top five contenders are an insanely great group, numbering among them four of the top 15 pound for pound fighters in the sport.

1. Khabib Nurmagomedov (LW)
2. Jon Jones (LHW)
3. Israel Adesanya (MW)
4. Stipe Miocic (HW)
5. Kamaru Usman (WW)
6. Alexander Volkanovski (FTW)
7. Dustin Poirier (LW)
8. Max Holloway (FTW)
9. Deiveson Figueiredo (FLW)
10. Petr Yan (BW)
11. Justin Gaethje (LW)
12. Conor McGregor (LW)

13. Robert Whittaker (MW)
14. Francis Ngannou (HW)
15. Jan Blachowicz (LHW)

Looking at the P4P list by division, LW wins:
LW: 4
BW: 2
MW: 2
LHW: 2
HW: 2
FLW: 1
FTW: 1
WW: 1

But determining the most stacked division goes beyond the top five contenders. So, UG, is Dana White right? Is middleweight the most stacked division in the UFC?
