Daniel Cormier: Adesanya is a threat to everyone at heavyweight but one

Former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier spoke recently with Helen Yee Sports about middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. “The Last is intent on taking part in superfights, Adesanya and former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones have been bickering bitterly on Twitter for months. And Jones has vacated his 205 belt to take a run at heavyweight. So a superfight vs. “Bones” would likely take place at heavy. The former champ champ has fought Jones twice, and has fought in both divisions, so  he’s a knowledgeable analyst in this regard, arguably the most knowledgeable.

And DC says Adesanya would be a huge problem for the UFC’s heavyweight division.

“Adesanya, if he can keep this fight [vs. Jones] standing, which he has proven he can do, is a problem for not only Jon Jones but all the way up to Heavyweight to Stipe Miocic,” said Cormier. “If [they] have to stand with Israel Adesanya from Heavyweight down to Middleweight it’s a problem because he is that good in that one particular skill, the striking.”

“He [Adesanya] is that good at striking and now he is striking with four ounce gloves. He is a dangerous guy, he is a dangerous guy for everybody. Maybe not Francis. Francis is knocking people’s heads off, so maybe not Francis, but all the rest of the Heavyweights got their hands full with Adesanya.”

UG, looking at the UFC top 15 heavyweights, who do you give Adesanya a chance against?

1. Francis Ngannou

4 . Derrick Lewis
5. Alistair Overeem
6. Alexander Volkov

9. Shamil Abdurakhimov
11. Aleksei Oleinik

None of the above? All of the above? All by Ngannou?
