For the UFC's debut on ABC, the five fight main card delivered an action-packed night of fights that saw all four bonuses earned on the main card on network television. It was a stellar showcase for the UFC's first fight on ABC (owned by Disney who also owns ESPN).
In the night's main event, Max Holloway proved to everyone that he still one of the very best in the division, battering top contender Calvin Kattar from opening bell en route to the most lopsided decision in UFC title history. The three judges scored the bout 50-43, 50-43, and 50-42. To his credit, Kattar was standing the whole fight and doing his best to fight back against Holloway's onslaught, but would not be deterred. The bout earned the event's Fight of the Night bonus with each athlete earning an additional $50,000 on top of their individual purses.
In the main card's second bout, Alessio Di Chiroco ended Joaquin Buckley's night early with a first round head kick at only 2:12 of the first round. Buckley came into the fight off back to back highlight reel knockouts, but unfortunately this time he ended up on the wrong end of Di Chiroco's highlight reel:
In the event's very next fight, unranked Li Jingliang squared off with Santiago Ponzinbibio whom prior to a two year lay off was the 7th ranked welterweight. Jingliang was a betting underdog coming into the bout, but quickly showed he may belong in the top fifteen after Ponzinbibio near the end of the first round:
