UFC Vegas 19 weigh-ins: Four fighters miss, the worst, a record, is not a typo
The 552nd UFC event, known as UFC Vegas 19, UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Lewis, UFC Fight Night 185, and UFC on ESPN+ 43, will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. The entire card streams live on ESPN+ app.
The official weigh-ins streamed live on The UnderGround at noon ET (9:00 a.m. local time) from the UFC APEX.
The card features an unusually high number of fights (15) likely because the league is overbooking in response to the rate of fights canceled in the past year, by positive tests for COVID-19, failed weight attempts, and other calamities. Of note, this is a relatively early event, with the main card starting not at 10:00 p.m. ET as do PPVs, but at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The main event features #2 ranked heavyweight Curtis “Razor” Blaydes vs. #4 ranked Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis. However, the winner will have a wait a while before a title shot. For one, champion Stipe Miocic as fought just five times in the past four years. Further, Miocic’s next defense is set – a rematch vs. Francis Ngannou in the main event of UFC 260 on March 27, 2021; the winner of that fight will face light heavyweight GOAT Jon Jones. So enjoy the main event for its own sake – a classic heavyweight wrestler vs. striker contest, with Blaydes likely winning minute after minute, but Lewis needing only a second to turn the fight around permanently.
