Khabib Nurmagomedov tests positive for COVID-19

Retired former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has tested positive for COVID-19.

Before he was set to attend ONE: Heavy Hitters in Singapore to corner friend and teammate Saygid Izagakhmaev, the retired MMA great tested positive for the virus in a pre-event screening test.

At the event’s post-fight media call, ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong added that the native of Dagestan landed in Singapore for the event several days earlier feeling unwell. Eventually, his condition worsened and he was found to be positive for the pandemic-causing virus on a test administered by the promotion.

Obviously, he was unable to attend the card and see Izagakhmaev make a dominant promotional debut in beating LFA veteran James Nakashima by submission in the second round.

It is unknown if “The Eagle” has received a COVID vaccination. However, his father Abdulmanap passed away in 2020 due to COVID-related health issues.
