Now that I've shaken my lack of sleep I noticed that I completely missed Taguchi losing to Koslov. He's still going to roll through that block, but that's a big win for Koslov. New Japan loves throwing curveballs early in tournaments like this, but it may also point to Koslov challenging Omega for one of the qualification slots from the block

I think the Super J cup this year is set up to give Taguchi some credibility back since he helped get heel Devitt over.

You are also correct about them trying to usually swerve you in the early brackets of a lot of their round robins

Omega is so awesome. I hope they swerve us and he wins.

The only non-NJPW wrestler to win the BoSJ was a DDT guy like Omega, so it's not out of the question, but I can't see it being anything other than a Devitt/Taguchi final. I think the semis will be Devitt/Omega and Taguchi/Ricochet, with the result being an Apollo55 showdown in the final Phone Post

That is what the booking would lead you to believe.

Is Ibushi injured? Wonder why he isn't included here.

No, Ibushi is fine. He was hurt last year, but he's back now. In fact, go up about 15 posts or so for his K-OD title challenge against Irie earlier this month. Not sure why he isn't in the tournament to be honest. Phone Post

Enuhito snapped some fantastic pics of Devitt during his entrance at the show yesterday. In other news, Chris Jericho was seen openly weeping after seeing how much better Devitt's jacket is than his

In case anyone was not aware, the new heel "Real Rock N Roller" Prince Devitt is amazing

Dragon Gate's "King of Gate" tournament finished up today in Osaka. Results courtesy of iheartdg.com. And the winner is...

Dragon Gate "King of Gate" Finale
5/25/2013 Osaka, BODYMAKER COLOSSEUM #2 - 1500 Attendance

0. Mondai Ryu (5:19 Inside Cradle after Low Blow) Shachihoko BOY
1. Masaaki Mochizuki, Don Fujii, Kotoka{W} (13:20 Momo Latch) Jimmy Kanda, Mr. Quu Quu Tanizaki Naoki Toyonaka Dolphin, Cyber Kong{L}
2. KING OF GATE 2013 Semifinals: Shingo Takagi (14:44 Pumping Bomber) YAMATO
3. KING OF GATE 2013 Semifinals: Ricochet (10:55 Swan Dive Shooting Star Press) Jimmy Susumu
4. Shimizu Debut Match: Uhaa Nation (4:40 Uhaa Combination) Ryotsu Shimizu
5. Akira Tozawa, BxB Hulk{W}, Kzy (13:56 First Flash) Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino, Rich Swann{L}
6. Gamma Return Match: K-ness{W}, Genki Horiguchi H.A.Gee.Mee!!, Ryo "Jimmy" Saito, Jimmy Kagetora (16:20 Hikari no Wa) CIMA, Dragon Kid, HUB, Gamma{L}
7. KING OF GATE 2013 Finals: Ricochet (18:42 Modified La Magistral) Shingo Takagi

Ricochet! Not a huge shock, but possibly a bit surprising to some considering his participation in the Best of the Super Juniors. You wouldn't want the winner of your biggest tournament to go on and lose one in another promotion right afterwards. So maybe this bodes well for Ricochet in BoSJ. Afterwards, he was congratulated by CIMA, during which it was decided that Ricochet should get a Dream Gate title shot.

Another couple points of interest, GAMMA and K-Ness brawled after their tag match, so look for that rivalry to continue this summer. YAMATO and Shingo shook hands and hugged after their semi-final match, presumably putting the recent unpleasantness behind them. I smell a swerve there though. I fully expect YAMATO to turn heel by the big Kobe World show in July.

The way the semifinals lined up Ricochet winning was really the only outcome. It's great to see him getting the push that he is. I'm betting by this time next year he's under WWE contract. Phone Post

Results from day 2 of the Best of the Super Juniors courtesy of puroresufan.com

NJPW, 5/26/13 (Samurai! TV)
Numazu Distribution Center
1,500 Fans – Super No Vacancy Full House

1. Best of the Super Jr. – Block B: BUSHI [4] beat Jado [2] (9:17) by pinfall.
2. Best of the Super Jr. – Block A: Barreta [2] beat Titan [0] (7:56) with the Dudebuster.
3. Best of the Super Jr. – Block B: Alex Koslov [4] beat Tiger Mask [0] (8:14) with a Russian Star Press.
4. Best of the Super Jr. – Block A: Rocky Romero [2] beat Jushin Thunder Liger [2] (8:15) with a diving double kneedrop.
5. Karl Anderson & Tama Tonga beat Hiroshi Tanahashi & Takaaki Watanabe (11:41) when Anderson used the Gun Stun on Watanabe.
6. Best of the Super Jr. – Block A: Prince Devitt [4] beat Hiromu Takahashi [0] (6:20) with the Bloody Sunday.
7. Best of the Super Jr. – Block B: Brian Kendrick [2] beat Ryusuke Taguchi [0] (3:38) with a Dragon suplex hold.
8. Best of the Super Jr. – Block A: Taichi [4] beat Alex Shelley [0] (8:58) with the Jagai Koroshi.
9. Best of the Super Jr. – Block B: TAKA Michinoku [4] beat KUSHIDA [0] (12:11) with the Michinoku Driver II.
10. Togi Makabe, Hirooki Goto & Tomoaki Honma beat Kazuchika Okada, YOSHI-HASHI & Gedo (13:18) when Makabe used a King Kong kneedrop on Gedo.

So Taguchi's early tournament struggles continue as he's dispatched by Brian Kendrick in less than 4 minutes. Just as surprising as Taguchi's early struggles is the early success of Taichi, as he wins again, this time over Alex Shelley. Taichi is a fantastic heel, but has never really been used well by New Japan. This may be the start of something good for him

Can someone describe to me(video would be awesome)Fale's Choke Lariat?

It's basically a choke lift with his left hand and a midair lariat with his right. I think it's supposed to be more an Umaga Samoan Spike than a lariat, but puroresufan.com called it a lariat so that's what it's being referred to as of now. I couldn't find a video out there already, so here's a clip from his return match I just capped and uploaded
