I am in this position all the time and never thought to step over the head. This video changed my ground game significantly.

It's at 4:13. I tried to time-stamp it.

Also, whatever happened to John Marsh? The water bottle incident was hilarious.

He has a school not far from me in Redondo Beach, CA where he goes through BJJ teachers like tissue paper.

When I say he goes through BJJ instructors, I mean that I have personally known three different --unrelated -- people who've been a BJJ instructor there and heard of others.who've come & gone.

I think I saw this in an even older video by Rob Kahn but couldn't find it.

Rob is super legit and a hidden, not really, gem. I still use details he gave over a decade ago.

John Danaher’s- Guard Retention dvd available @bjjfanatics

I have been taught great guard retention before but was never able to put it into great use because I never fully understood it.

John Danahers dvd broke it down in a way that I finally understood it and what other instructors have taught makes more sense to me now.

Brandon Mullins has a dvd with Stephan Kesting and one of the discs is “game changers” or something like that. Just a bunch of little stuff that is super useful. Good set overall too. Not sure if he is still doing that organ donor deal but if he is grab that set.

Saw this video about 10 years ago and it totally changed how I approach passing the guard. I starting using hip pressure when on top (gi, nogi, mma). Subsequently, it helped me better understand the pressure passing style I use today.
