My primary goal is not to further tear my meniscus.

Also known as the biatch sweep. I have a love/hate relationship with it. Love doing it but hate having it done to me. Someone did it to me in the open weight finals of Pan Pacs and I had to check my already injured knee was still in place after. I like to switch legs and do it with the other leg also. Very strong sweep when timed right.

One of the main reasons that DLR is not a primary guard I use.

lol, old man jiu jitsu right here.  It's worse when you are in front of them too.  My primary goal is similar, so I shift myself so that the back of my knee is against the back of their knee (heading to a deep dlr hook).  Opens up taking the back and a few other options.

Please be careful with that one... it's pretty easy to hurt the guy being swept.

Interesting. I have used that sweep when my opponent is on his knee. I never thought about doing when he is standing.

interesting that you and the other guy mentioned that. it seems like a pretty harmless sweep. i assume you're talking about the knee

It looks like injury to me.  That knee looks ripe for hyperextension.

It just really jolts the leg. My leg was fine afterwards as far as I could tell, but it certainly can wrench the knee to varying degrees depending on your base and the angle etc.

seems like an ankle pick to me except your using your leg. or similar to the sickle sweep where you block a leg with your leg.

but i've never done it or had it done to me so i'll take your guys word for it. it was actually on my list of techs to try out in randori. i guess i'll skip it now.

When you do it you have do be careful that your bottom leg - the one hooking the other guy's foot - is really low, at foot level.

If you don't drop your DLR hook and it stays near the knee, it can block the lower part of his leg, while the rest of the body moves, more so if the guy has that foot planted on the mat with all his weight on it.

I haven't done this in a while, so if you are going to try it let me know if you agree with what I'm saying cause I might be off.

That's my go to!!! There is also another one where you push the bag leg the same but take out your front foot and use it to sweep pretty much the same way.
