I avoided Ubisoft for a long time. I lumped them in with the EA's and Activisions of the world. I'm starting to see that I did it unfairly. I picked up the Far Crys and really like them. I got a bunch of the AC's cheap and will play them next.

Rockstar? Is it that obvious?

I would have said Bethesda until Fallout 76.

2k Games doesn't release too many clunkers.

Sony does great exclusives. But Naughty Dog, Quantum Dreams, and From Software are their own companies.

Ubisoft used to be bad but they have been a lot better this gen. I used to avoid their games as well but now that everything isn't a yearly release I enjoy them a lot more. Plus they have been supporting their games like crazy. Look at R6 from launch til now. Totally different game. Same with for Honor and the division.

Rockstar is kinda meh to me. I know the games are great but I don't enjoy them. I hate Rockstar jank. Technically I think both them and 2k are under Take two so maybe that is the answer to your question.

Sony had a great year and a pretty good gen with more to come. The great thing about them is they really seem to trust their devs and allow them a lot of freedom. Maybe the most diverse catalogue out there.

Is Nintendo in the conversation? If Sony is they should be too.

Forgot to mention Capcom. They've had a big turnaround the last couple of years. Really happy with them lately.

I haven't owned a nintendo system since the 64, so I unfairly forget them.

I hear you can emulate play breath of the wild on a pc. That is relevant to my interests.

I know that they had the Wii u version running well but I'm pretty sure I've heard of a switch emulator as well.

Nintendo.  I think they are number one with a bullet.  Obviously, many of their AAA games aren't for everyone, but they always have a high level of polish with minimal bugs.

I think part of that is the double edge sword of knowing that your platform sales are tied directly to your games and knowing exactly what hardware everyone is running. Also, you're never responsible for pushing the bleeding edge of tech.

I gotta give props to From Software and Namco Bandai.  The Dark Souls games are genre defining and have had a major influence on this generation's game design. Throw in the Monster Hunter series and they are all win.

CD Projekt, unless by AAA you mean huge companies instead of high budget games.

Their gaming pedigree is unquestionable though. They even had a hand in the Baldur’s Gate games. They also own GOG, and support DRM free software.

They are. Read about GOG. They use outside distributors for physical copies, and handle digital distribution themselves.

There is a interesting story about their fight for retaining full rights to their properties and staying independent.

I still haven't touched witcher 3 but the game looks great as does their upcoming game. Anything they touch seems to be a success and they delayed witcher 3 forever to get it right, while most other studios would rush to release it.

For me, this year has been Sega. Yakuza series has been one of the best I've ever played, absolutely loved 0, Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2 and 6... Also Atlus are a Sega subsidiary and Persona 5 was awesome.

Witcher 3 is EXCELLENT, it will be the contention for game of the decade! If you're on PC, lookup the leveling gear mod. It was the one thing I thought was incredibly stupid about the game. If you dont blow off Yennifer or Triss, you're going to have a bad time.

Besides this the fact that they treat their employees like shit always standout for me when talking about them
