Bone, the acclaimed comic book series by Jeff Smith, is being adapted into an animated series by Netflix.
"I’ve waited a long time for this," Smith said. "Netflix is the perfect home for Bone. Fans of the books know that the story develops chapter-by-chapter and book-by-book. An animated series is exactly the way to do this! The team at Netflix understands Bone and is committed to doing something special — this is good news for kids and cartoon lovers all over the world."
Bone follows three cousins -- FoWarne Bone, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone -- who are run out of their hometown of Boneville and find themselves in a mysterious and magical valley full of dragons, lost princesses and bawdy taverns. The cousins are scattered and bring their unique sensibilities to the people of the valley, who are waging a war with the Rat Creatures.
In 2016, Kung Fu Panda director Mark Osborne was tapped to helm an animated adaptation of the property for Warner Bros. with the goal of establishing a new film franchise. However, nothing ultimately came of those plans.

paw comments: Bone is amazing and well worth tracking down if you haven't read it.

I still have the original run. It was the only book other than Preacher that I faithfully read around that time. I also have the original color reprints.

Waiting for the issues to get released was a pain in the ass and why I dropped TWD in the 30's and picked it back up in the 50's. Going to the comic shop to buy one book that didn't get shipped again kills the excitement for me, and that happened too often with Bone. Once Kirkman started doing the same, my Bone scars resurfaced and I didn't want to do that all over again.

Didn't Jeff Smith come to comics from animation? I don't want the Kung Fu panda guy directing this at all.
