DC has canceled all of its March convention plans, including Emerald City Comic Con, due to concerns about the growing threat of the coronavirus.
"As the health and safety of our employees are always our primary concerns, DC staffers will not be attending conventions during the month of March," DC told The Hollywood Reporter. "Future convention attendance will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, factoring in the latest information from a variety of organizations, including the CDC, WHO, U.S. State Department and local health agencies."
Just yesterday, Warner Bros. also cancelled the New York premiere for its Superman: Red Son animated movie. The event was originally scheduled to take in New York City on March 16.
According to the report, Marvel Entertainment never had plans to bring talent or execs to ECCC. As a result, the publisher has not made any announcements regarding the convention.
DC isn't the only publisher to drop out of ECCC. Earlier today, Dark Horse Comics also pulled out of the convention, which is based in Seattle, Washington. The indie comic giant exited the event as a precaution for "the safety and well-being of our staff and creators."
Notably, several people in Washington state have already died from the virus. The death toll continues to rise as more cases and deaths are confirmed in the state.
Emerald City Comic Con is still scheduled for March 12 through 15 in Seattle, as per the official website. The convention issued a statement regarding coronavirus concerns, with promises to proactively monitor the situation.

Seems a bit of an over reaction, but then again they could be just ducking the fans.
