As the various Arrowverse series move deeper into the 2019-2020 television season, one returning superhero is struggling to maintain viewers while the shared universe's latest addition continues to hold strong.
With Supergirl soaring further into Season 5, the DCTV series has hit an all-time low at 900,000 total viewers and a key demographic rating of .2 for its third episode, marking the second consecutive week of viewership declines. However, while Batwoman similarly saw a 15% dip in its key demographic audience, it maintained a .3 rating with 1.23 million viewers.
Supergirl came strong out of the gate this season, with the Season 5 premiere outperforming last year's Season 4 premiere while Batwoman outperformed last year's series premieres of Legacies and Roswell, New Mexico with 1.8 million total viewers tuning in.
Both Supergirl and Batwoman are slated to cross over in December as part of the epic Arrowverse crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earths," with previous Arrowverse crossovers historically seeing a significant increase in the ratings for series involved. That being said, the coming crossover may help Supergirl regain its momentum after a strong season premiere while propelling Batwoman to new viewership heights.
Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.
Helmed by Caroline Dries and developed by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Batwoman stars Ruby Rose, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis and Nicole Kang. The series airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
