I read he lost by decision....whatever that means. I believe is opponet is also on the U.S. National Judo Team.

How does an Olympican loose to an opponent who doesn't compete at the IJF level?  Nick is trying to make it at 81k since Hatton's death.   He wants to qualify for 2020 Olympics.   I would have to see the video to understand how this could happen.

I saw he was going to try to qualify for 2020.  Age is not on anyone's side in the Martial Arts.

Considering how loaded 81k is right now.  Not too many judokas can move up in weight and win.  His age 30, almost impossible to make 2020 Olympics.  Maybe he can get one of the ten Pan American invitations for male. I hope some video shows up Yutube on his match.
