Either stores will just close and go out of business, or put everything behind a sealed counter and make people order through the glass. That will drive prices up among the surviving retailers.

But the legislators meant well, that's what's really important.

Been going on for a while now. Paying customers end up footing the bill with higher prices on the shelf.

Just another democrat handout

Did I read here that by-laws have been passed preventing stores from using safety and theft prevention measures because, you know, racism in Trump's America?

What is the theoretical end game with policies such as this?  Honest question.  "We have institutated these policies because the eventual result as we see it is ______________?"

Coming soon to Illinois, even though it's already popping up in parts of it.

I was at the liquor store by work yesterday buying MegaMillions tickets and they were telling me how the police department in the town won't make calls if the stolen items value is less than $100.

that will be the initial response... racism, classism, hating on the business community at large for moving out of areas

The theft aspect of prop 47 is idiotic, but even the drug aspect, while smart, is handled poorly from what I've read. The entire point of decriminalizing or turning non-violent drug crimes into misdemeanors is that the lower charges need to be conditional to appropriate rehabilitation with NA or AA and follow-up checkpoints. That's what's generally worked in countries like Portugal that have tried to avoid a war on drugs and treat addiction like a disease, while focusing on increasingly harsh penalties for dealers.

And anyways, how the fuck do these spazzes go from the heavy-handed, moronic and arbitrary 3 strikes rule to this hippie bull shit?

This isn't just a california issue. You can go into a lot of retailers and take whatever you want and the workers are powerless to stop you.

Philadelphia, for "beer delis," because it's apparently indignant to serve people food through a glass partition.
