The following video is of my good friend Richie Wentz speaking to my Social Studies class about 9-11 when I taught at Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland. Just so happens that this was my classroom- room #1233 inside the now condemned bldg where the shooting took place.
Richie Wentz spoke to my classes on this date every year- even once he was suffering the effects of 9-11 Disease as a result of his work at Ground Zero. The year this was filmed, Richie pulled me aside and asked me to make sure he was recorded. I asked him why, and he told me that he didn’t think he’d be around to speak about this after this year. He was right. He made me promise not to post it anywhere until he was gone. He asked that I share it every year on 9-11 to ensure that no one ever forgets what happened. The video has 2 parts for a total of about 45 minutes. I’m posting the links below. Please take some time to listen to what it was really like there- not just the events, but the human aspect of the world’s loss that day and every time another person passes away from complications of their service that day.
Thanks Richie. I love you brother. May you RIP. Until I see you again.
