Crazy to think how much has changed in our country since then. I don’t know of a time we have ever been so united as we were after 9/11 - certainly not in my lifetime. People had a true sense of patriotism, and these TYT faggots would be have been ostracized for saying that shit. “We will never forget!”

Now look at us.

It’s like we live in a bizaro world now, when we compare it to back then. I’m not into conspiracies but sometimes I wonder if their has been a concerted effort by powerful organizations to sway the sentiment in America/ the West so far askew.

Dubya using that sentinemt to garner public support for a disastrous war in Iraq had something to do with it.

The youngest are the loudest. There is an entire generation of kids born after 9/11. And they're gonna be of age to vote soon. Scary shit.

This isn’t new. My brother in law said the same thing shortly after the attack. I was pretty upset and I’m not even American.  That’s the second closest I’ve ever come to beating the crap out of him.

Id really like to beat that guy up some times, but I’m better than that and I just bottle it up and hold on to it. He’s a good guy, but he’s never had his butt kicked for running his mouth.

That's exactly what I came here to say. He was probably like three years old when 9/11 happened.

Bush did what he was told.  Wolfowitz had been waiting for an excuse for a decade and even though Cheney had to re-write his platform for posterity when it leaked it was still his.

Was it rushed and shortsighted in execution? Yes, there's no denying that, but people act like everything would be hunky dory if Saddam had stayed in power but even if that were true he was gonna die eventually.

Possibly.  I'm not smart enough to claim I know what would or wouldn't have happened.  The only thing I know for sure is that Saddam was going to die eventually.

I agree.  I had leftist professors saying similar things the day after it happened.  Shortly after, we were getting lectured on "blowback" and other idiotic concepts being peddled the left.

Most Leftists I have known are driven by a mild to moderate dislike of their country.

They really don't like America and are usually disgusted by anything patriotic.

They live here but don't really see themselves as "Americans". They think they're above that.

And my best friend wouldn’t have been maimed in a bullshit war that we were told was justified because of lies

It is in fact true that the US is primarily responsible for 9/11, as well as all the other jihadi terrorist attacks that happen in the US. In reality, al-Qaeda was created by the US; Bin Laden was a CIA agent and still had a working relationship with the CIA in 2001; it has been a key aspect of US foreign policy to fund, arm and train jihadi terrorists all throughout the world since the Eisenhower administration; Saudi Arabia, one of the closest allies of the US, is the biggest direct supporter of global jihad—all of this is on record.

And what has been the response of the US to 9/11? A massive increase in funds, arms and training for the very same jihadis who carried out the attack. In Syria alone, the CIA provided $1 billion a year to the “moderate rebels” who were helping to overthrow Assad and install a US-sponsored regime. And who were these moderate rebels? Al-Nusra, primarily—i.e., the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda.

Did Germany, Sweden and Belgium bring terror upon themselves with their aggressive foreign wars?

Or is there some other commonality to these attacks than the victims' foreign policies?

A wise post. 9/11 is a case of action/reaction. It’s not like the USA was just attacked for no reason. 9/11 would have never happened but for the years of stealthy, interloping shit the USA has done or contributed to over the years.

That said - doesn't make it right at all...but you can't ignore the contributing factors on both sides. The way a lot of right-wingers feel about Islam is comparable to how many residents in Islamic countries/communities feel about the USA and other western countries.

We're dealing with a MENTAL VIRUS of epic proportions here that is bringing about the so-called end-times or apocalypse.
