most about people?  For me, it's the fact that most people aren't over their adolescent/childhood angstful issues.  It's been fascinating how things have played out for many people in life, and I've been nothing short of flabberghasted at the lack of self-awareness most fully-functional adults have.

Every generation annoys their parents and I thought I would be immune.

I thought well Ultra violent hip hop and double anal porn have no effect on me what could youth do that I would find offensive?

Then they all turned into fucking pro socialist, social justice warrior puritanical douche bags.

They think they are smarter than they are. Everyone is and expert. A world consultant. I like to sit in the shadows and watch people make fools of themselves.

Not about people, but what's surprised me is how fast my memory has turned to shit. I used to find it so weird my Dad couldn't remember movies he'd seen and shit like that, and I'm the same way in my 30's.

Wrt people, if you're in a sorta closed social structure where there's limited turnover and limited hierarcy it's crazy how it can fit a high school social structure with people even in their 40's especially amongst women.

I'm shocked at how ignorant and immature a lot of adults are.

Im saddened by how most of my peers look like shit, are fat and out of shape and don't seem to care or just don't want to change.

I feel sorry for their wives.

How so many people are lazy and lack initiative.  When I was younger and first out on my own, I didn't have anybody that I could call for help to do anything, so I learned a lot of stuff out of necessity.  I see a lot of people who are helpless/clueless on basic home/car type stuff.  My wife's 30 year old nephew was working 2 jobs, he had a minor issue with his car and he just let it sit for 3 months and bummed rides vs tried to do anything with it.  My wife asked me to help, I got the parts, paid for everything, tried to set up times to do it and he acted like I was bothering him and never even thanked me when it was done.  My next door neighbor is mid 30s, his dad comes over and rakes his leaves, shovels his snow etc.  His mom comes over and cleans the house.

That good health for yourself and loved ones really is the greatest blessing.  What I wouldn't give to have certain people back and healthy and how great would it be if my knees weren't screaming right now.

the other thing that surprised me is how all of life is basically high school.  We look different on the outside and we get more artful in how we handle things, but it's still all the same and inside we basically are too.

I'm amazed at how most people don't EVER take even 5 minutes to plan out their lives. Everyone is just floating day to day, making poor decisions because the future is make-believe in their minds.

Men usually have vague but large life ambitions that they're supposedly working toward, but not doing anything meaningful to move in that direction. Many women I know think they can build their career and then build a family in a decade when they're infertile.

As a kid, I thought adults must be constantly planning for the future, considering all outcomes. Man was I off...

Indeed, as a child i thought that an adult by the age of 40 would be responsible and have their shit together, was quite a surprise when i reached that age and realized i and everyone i knew were still the same people we were as children, just older. i'm much older than that now and still a fuck-up

Adult's lack of foresight, planning and just general fucking awareness. I mean, it's almost non-existent. Additionally, the inability of someone to objectively assess their station in life and make even the simplest of course corrections.

This. I can't believe how many people have zero of the basic skills you need to just get on in life.

People don't change in significant ways.  It seems to be an important lie that society has to tell itself, but an asshole is always going to be an asshole, a liar is always going to lie, a cheater is always going to cheat, etc.  People often try to use themselves as an example of an exception, "I used to blah blah, but I changed, so anyone can."  These people always lack the selfawareness to see who they really are (or they are lying).

The all or nothing mentality where people refuse to compromise.

How many adults are still prone to school yard bullying nonsense and gossip.

How many people are lacking in common knowledge or even how to spell or use words correctly. There's one guy I know who uses the term ironic a lot and it's NEVER ironic and barely coincidental. Example: 'it's ironic that this time last week I was relaxing on vacation'. No it's not. Another guy uses the word antidote when he means anecdote
