If you have to work more than one job. Agree/disagree? I work more than one job for extra money. Ben is being kind of a rich dick here IMO.

One full time job even minimum wage can easily "put a roof over your head and food on the table" if you dont live in a high cost of living area.

He's right. It's easier said than done, but if you avoid the leftist was of life, you can live well.

He's correct. Live with in your means. If you want more work for it. Shocking I know for socialists

Of course he's right. If you work more than one job, how did you get in that situation? Either because that's where you want to be or because of your own decisions.

Sounds correct.   What would be incorrect about that statement?

Working more than one job because you want more is literally working for it.

And sometimes people work multiple jobs to put themselves through school, improve their situation, etc.

No one is stopping you from buying:

The cheapest cell phone

The cheapest clothes

The cheapest household goods

The cheapest car and car accessories

Poor people shop like poor people.....this is well documented.

It's a you problem because you are responsible for yourself...nothing wrong with having 3 jobs, fuck my 15 year old has 2 while also going to high school and competing in athletics....only night she has more than 2 unscheduled hours back to back is Sunday.

unless someone is breaking the law, everything in your life is a you problem.

I suppose this was meant as a shot at whiny libs, but don't a lot of cops or firemen or teachers work a 2nd job?

Whose fault is it then? I have 2 jobs but I've never seen myself as a victim. I'm responsible but it's not a must. I can quit one and stop the excess but i choose not to

Wheni was a kid I knew several kids whose parents worked multiple jobs.

When did the dynamic change to where people just stopped doing it. Almost like you are liked down on for working 2 jobs now. It's really weird.

Rich elites who pay shit wages have somehow convinced working class morons that there's something noble about living barely above the poverty line and not complaining about it.

Keep working those two jobs, guys, while demanding the government cut taxes for your boss while raising yours.

LMAO.

I am interested in the context of the quote.

Shapiro has famously said that in order to end poverty, people should do three things.

Finish high school.

Get and maintain a job.

Dont have kids until you are married.

These are pretty simple rules, and its out of character for Ben to shit on people for having a job.

Well, it is a you problem in that if you were of more value, you'd be paid more. Improve yourself in ways that make you a more valuable employee, and you'll be rewarded for it

I used to like Shapiro as one of the few true respectable conservatives. But he's coming off like a dick here.

who "should" take these jobs then? If they don't pay enough to support a family? There is a problem with the system, not the people.

What the hell is this notion that a single minimum wage income is meant to support a family?

Not sure what youre getting at. I work 3 jobs. Two for my family and one to support my parents. Its my choice. If I didn't want my lifestyle or to support my folks I'd work one, but again my choice. I didn't watch his clip, but I've seen plenty from him, he seems to advocate personal responsibility which I agree with.

I work 2 jobs but my full time gig is 3 - 12 hour shifts. No reason not to work another job when I have 4 days off a week.

I kinda agree with him. I think the counterpoint is that you can no longer afford the same lifestyle you could decades ago on a single job with a median to just below median wage.

Back in the "good old days" if someone put in their 40 hours at a job that didn't require a ton of skill or a college education they could afford home ownership (not renting) and to support a family. I live in Phoenix which dosent have too high cost of living and theres no way you can afford to own a home and take care of a spouse and child on one income.

Like many others said you have to live within your means, but it would be nice if having one modest blue collar job could afford the lifestyle it once did.
