KeezyDoesIt - Canada has a military?

My Canadian grandfather fought in ww2 so please go fuck yourself

Nah don't think I will. Please go on about other people's accomplishments though :)
actually please go fuck yourself.
Still nope.
Why don't you tell us about your accomplishment...

That's what I thought...

At that distance the bullet would have lost so much speed it was probably more like getting hit with a hammer than getting shot.

Fucking unreal shot.

Isn't it a bit ... idk, strange that they actually keep a record of the longest kill shots? I think that Globe chart above kind of puts it in perspective - We are talking about killing someone ...

Now in this case, as most of us are Westerners, it's a "good guy killing a bad guy" so fine. But what if the new record was an Iraqi or North Korean shooting an American soldier?

Don't get me wrong, I completely appreciate that whether this was in a war, or simply taking out a dangerous target, this sniper did something extraordinary. Just a little macabre maybe when you see it as an infograph or Excel pie chart?

Jesus Christ. Some of you are way too sensitive. This was a thread celebrating an amazing feat.  There were several very light hearted jokes and some of you cry like bitches.

We sure do. I served in it as did my grandpa and his son.

In fact our military is so well trained that one of our snipers holds the record for the longest confirmed kill shot. That's a pretty badass military if you ask me.

I've always been impressed by the way Americans have treated me because of my service. I even had one buy me a beer at sea world and a few shook my hand. If you're American, you're probably not a very good one.

How can they even tell the distance to such a precise number? 4th best and 5th best are a difference of 10 meters. It is not like they are using a tape measure.

Damn impressive shot. Glad he is on our side.

LOL. If they can hit someone at 2000 or more meters , you can be damn sure they know exactly how far the target is.

You can calculate the range to target using your reticle if its first focal plane and milscale reticle. Also guys using laser range finders. I'm sure they can also use satellite gps etc

Thanks for the info. I did not know those guns could do all that.

rushinbear - 10 seconds doesn't seem like too long of a time.
That's an eternity

I think I mistyped my thought. I was surprised that it took that long to get to the target. I would have thought a lot sooner. What is the initial velocity of that fired round?
You good pull the trigger, take a bite of your sandwich, chew it, t take a swig from your canteen, check your scope and watch it hit the target.

I'm gonna say it was a great shot.

But I'll also hedge my bets that he just aimed and set up his calculations to try and land in the biggest crowd of people , rather than a sole target, and he got a bit of luck .

Huh?

A sniper was just shooting into a crowd of people?

I don't think you know how rules of engagement work.

Snipers have to know who/what they're shooting at.

The spotter probably uses an advanced range finder, and more than likely they are talking to someone who is watching via satellite and has the shooter and the targets gps position.

For the shooter to be able to hit a target from that far ,he would have to know exactly how far away he is.

How does a team even consider that shot?  Tactical decision or more of a dare?

Either way, free Tim Horton's for that guy for life.
