My wife and I stayed at the comfort inn in Comstock Park, Michigan our wedding night. A few day later my wife noticed a charge on the credit card she didn’t recognize. Comfort in had charged us almost double what the room cost us. I called and was told we were charged a smoking fee. I stated we had not smoked In the room and had specifically gone outside to smoke. The lady on the phone said the room smelled like marijuana. I stated that my wife and I both had medical marijuana licenses and that we had gone outside to smoke, not in the hotel. After a couple weeks of getting the runaround I decided to drive to the hotel and try to resolve the issue. I walked into the hotel and asked to speak to a manager. A lady named Tammy came out and stated she was the manager. I began to tell here who I was and I was immediately cut off and she began yelling. After a couple min of this I began recording......After the camera went off I went outside and called the police. They came watched the , got my statement, asked if I wanted to charges (yes), and asked me to leave and they’d take care of it. Nothing happened. I called and was told the prosecutor decided not to charges. --- Comfort Inn for Honeymoon. I swear we smoked outside!

These things suck. It's nearly impossible to prove without physical evidence. All they have is smell and a signed agreement to show the credit company.

Dispute it with your credit card.  When I had to deal with these I'd have to provide time stamped pics of room number and physical proof to avoid the chargeback. I've got hundreds of these pics in my Google photos now.

The point of the no smoking in the room thing is so the room doesn't stink like shit for the next patron.

Sounds like you smoked so many marijuanas, the stench in your clothes brought back into the room caused it to stink like shit for the next patron.

They smelled pot, you admit to smoking pot, hence you caused the stench, you pay the fee. Try an edible next time, junkie.

that's not fair both he and his wife have medical marijuana cards. they both have serious medical issues which need to be treated!

MMC are not issued to just anyone, i can only imagine what this whole situation has done for the extreme anxiety I am sure they both already suffer from I hoe he was able to find a strong enough strain to help ease his suffering.

It's not even that. I used to work in hospitality management. When California made medical marijuana legal, every fucking pothead in the state started smoking in hotels, then claiming their MM card made it okay. Or they'd smoke in the room, lie and say they smoked outside in front of an open door or window, some bullshit like that, but the smoking was legal, you can't charge me, blah blah...

Best of all, every fucking one of these stoner trashbag motherfuckers wants to record you on their cell phone, and talk about calling their MM attorney. It's hilarious.

I used to just call the police non-emergency number and have them removed. When the CC company would call with the dispute, I'd have the lobby camera of their freakout, plus the police incident report, and the credit card company would invariably rule in my favor. 20 minutes of work to make $250. And if I can't rent a room for a night during a busy season because I had to shampoo the carpets and change the drapes, motherfucker you are getting charged.

Dude, it's not that hard to get away with smoking in your room. Just be smart about it. If the bathroom is vented, do it in there only.

I kind of agree with this. You don't have to smoke directly in the room for it to smell like shit.

If you're smoking cigs or weed outside all night, your clothes stink like hell, then you lay all over the bed, couch, etc in the hotel, that stuff is gonna stink too and the room will smell like shit. If they can't fill that room the next day because of the smell from your clothes, you should pay the cleaning fee or whatever it is.

This is why I ALWAYS all for my hotel or rental car account to be noted that it smelled like smoke when i accepted it. They usually do and it saves the hassle.
