The lack of happy little trees is a bit disappointing, but otherwise a pretty damn good job, op.

It was made with gouache on paper for a college project decades ago... we had to choose an artist and try to reproduce one of his paintings, besides being able to give a small lecture on them.

so, being the show off that I was, I did this and a nearly perfect copy of the Dali below (showing the original):

The professor refused to give the dali back... I still have the pencil B&W study though.

Don't be afraid of oil.  It's actually much easier to use than gouache, water color, acrylic, etc. Imo

I did paint some oils later and agree, but everything was too expensive.

Loved painting watercolours though because it was so challenging... depending on your technique the paint had a will of its own.

Its definitely expensive.  I just use Utrecht brand paint.  It works well enough
