The present scientific consensus is that birds are a group of theropod dinosaurs that originated during the Mesozoic Era.

That’s something I wasn’t taught in school in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

Is that when you learned about it in school?

I remember it from a few years after the movie was released.

2 reasons you didn't learn that in school.

1. Scientists didn't come to that conclusion yet.  Or

2. It didn't fit the narrative of what the school wanted to teach you.

I learned in school that we had a whole in the ozone caused by aerosol cans.   Turns out, that's not true...

I learned in college that white people enslaved Africans and stole them from there country into forced slavery.   Well,  that's not accurate either.

Christ, reversing the hole in the ozone layer is a showpiece of what a call to environmental action can accomplish.

My 2 year old son is really into dinosaurs and I had no idea that birds are considered to be dinosaurs, not just some offshoot or whatever, actual dinosaurs.
