Just kidding. My mom and my Nanny (mom's sister, my godmother) LOVED Elvis so I grew up listening to Elvis albums that my mom played.

I didn't grow up in anything near a ghetto but that I still find that song inspirational and it still brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

There's a video out there taken from a concert just before Elvis's death. He looks awful: fat, bloated, stoned, wheezing for breath.

 

You want to turn it off, but then he starts to sing Unchained Melody. No backing band, just him on the piano. And it is chilling how good he is.
