SergesBeefyHopeFlaps - so what would be the difference between doing this and just buying an HK MR556?

Most of the MR556 is made in the USA. This build is to have a rifle built on parts mostly made by ze Germans.

Its like building an E German parts kit vs buying a Kalashnikov USA off the shelf.

Plus parts hunting is fun!

My question is a twist on SBHF's:

Let's say I have a MR556A1. What do I need to buy to make a functional 416?

Before this thread my own guess would have been just a complete lower. However, earlier posts also indicate the BCG is different.

Can anyone spell it out in detail? Dummy here, trying to become less of one...

Mine was $2300 OEM.

The optic was another $1200, I believe and the cerakote was maybe $300ish?

Very nice sir. Would you say it's worth the price?

I’ve put a little over 1000 rds through it and it’s not failed a single time. I love it.

I want the civilian variant of the G36, the HK243 S and the MP5 SK-PDW.

Would a piston system really work that much better as far as reducing gas than a DI system?

suppressed DI's are more likely to have performance issues and throw a lot of gas in your face.

Gas is just something you have to learn to deal with while shooting suppressed. I use a vented gas block + a gas buster charging handle on my 416 and I still get blasted. Same goes for my CQBR.

I’ve actually got some pages saved to research the Tommy Built, I’ve heard very good things about them.

I’ll check your friend’s website, thanks for the heads up.

Also, this retailer may have been mentioned in your thread already, OP, but hkparts.net has been one of my go-tos in the past.
