Ain’t no way his nominee gets through the house.

Not a lot of supreme court nominations go through the house.

Agreed. Also, no way the house votes in trump as president. Luckily neither of those things are necessary.

I totally forgot. Ty for the reminder. All you need is the senate. Which used to require 60 votes but now just needs a majority because Harry Reid nuked the requirement. Which is just hilarious.

My apologies. In my defense, I’ve been hit in the head a lot throughout my life.

I assume it's a long process. Don't it could be completed by November either way.

Was Ginsberg considered more conservative or liberal?

Romney, Collins & Murkowski This is terrible timing for Trump IMO. Now it’s likely to be an election issue. Takes the focus off of the rioting & BLM bullshit

Aren't there 53 Republicans in the Senate? And I believe Collins is up for re-election. So it would be either 51-53 votes yes, 50 votes yes with Romney/Collins/Murkowski abstaining, or 50/50 with Collins putting her re-election in jeopardy by voting no and Pence casting the tie breaker. This is going to happen. You think there will unrest of Trump appoints someone? You know what's worse than not filling a SCOTUS vacancy in an election year? Heading into what is most likely going to be one of the most litigated elections in history with a SCOTUS that can't guarantee a clear majority in its decisions.

Put up a woman...and watch Collins and Murkowski fall in line.

Has to be a woman and a constitutional conservative. They already have her picked out and vetted. Just nominate her.

the constitution is what keeps the size and scope of the government in check. A conservative court justice is a win for society and if we have to drag half the country kicking and screaming. So be it..

If Mark Kelly defeats Martha McSally in Arizona he'll likely be sworn in before the end of November. That'd tilt the numbers. It's technically a "special election" since McSally was appointed to fill John McCain's seat so there'd be no delay in Kelly taking the seat over.

The Democrats are going to do the only thing Democrats know how to do: character assassination. If the next nominee went to a restaurant and didn’t tip a waiter in January of 1983, they will crucify them. It’s all they know how to do. They have absolutely nothing to offer this country except the promotion of hatred, violence, intolerance, tantrums and political war. The only thing they can do this time is try once again to Kavanaugh the situation.

The Dems hold the chips. If the Republicans push someone through, the Dems will look to pack the Supreme Court in the future.

If Biden wins and/when the Dems take the Senate, they'll expand the Court to 15 (or more) and Biden will appoint 6 (or more) 45-year old ultra-liberals.

This won't end well for Republicans.

Increasing the numbers and packing the courts would ruin this country. That will 100% open Pandora's box that we'll never come back from. The next time the Repubs have the power they will do the same then we turn into Venezuela. The fabric of our country will have been completely ripped in half.

I agree, but I think it will happen if the Republicans push someone through.

It's a horrific result for the country and Republicans because shifting demographics pretty much ensure that, if they don't reverse it quickly, Republicans won't have power over both houses of Congress and the Presidency for some time into the future.
