OtherGround Forums I got a second interview!!! What the fuk do I do?!

Ok, so let me preface this by saying I have a really good job right now; great pay, 4 day work week and I basically run the department. 

An opportunity came my way a few weeks ago. About a 20% - 25% jump in pay and primarily working from home. Same organization, different department. The new job would be learning all new shit, which would really get me hard as I love learning new shit, but it’s a bit of a gamble as I’m really starting from scratch. Decided “No guts, no glory” and figured I’d interview for it for the fuck of it. Didn’t think I’d get past the first round but got word today they want me to come in for a second interview which means the job is basically mine unless the managers absolutely hate my guts. 

Wasnt gonna post about this cause I figured I’d jinx myself but had a few drinks to relax and figured I’d post. 

So, here’s the deal, I’m actually scared shitless that they are going to offer me the job, as twisted as that sounds. Talk me off the fucking ledge here, OG, or at least give me words of encouragement. Also, what the fuck do I do if my present department counters?!? What say you, OG?!?

If you’re confident in the direction the company is going I’m a big fan of knowing as many working parts of a business as possible. You’re twice as valuable if you know the ins and outs of two different departments. Plus it will prevent you from feeling burned out.

Second interviews are pretty standard, it usually means they have a few candidates.

That said weigh your options really well, don’t leave a cush job for $10-12 grand, it’s just not worth it.

Oh and make sure you ask if they use Agile, if they do run. Lol

If you are really not sure if it's going to be a good fit for you, be 100% yourself this go around. See how that lands. And remember that you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you.

Best advice right here. Quality of life with a little less pay is far better then a little more coin with exceptional responsibilities (especially if you have a family). If you can pull of a 40%+, I would say seriously consider it..
