His mental illness won decades ago.

He's probably won more fixed fights than Bob Sapp has lost.

I still love both of them for the entertainment they have provided me over the past 20-30 years.

I didn't sense a tinge of mental illness throughout the entire interview. To me he sounds like a guy who has been through the ringer dealing with mentally ill people from childhood onwards. To those who have not experienced such a fate it can appear to onlookers that the individual is mentally ill - when that is not truly the case. It's like induced mental illness. Not actual.

Interesting video so far but Mickey was never part of the Brat Pack as the video suggests

Respectfully disagree.

He tries to paint himself as the victim who heroically rises from the ashes...but he's a nutjob.

Self-destruction, self-mutilation, and rampant substance abuse are more than a "tinge" of the mental health issues he's nurtured over the years...

No shit? Cool story. VU.

One thing I've liked about MR is that he's never really seemed to give a shit what other people think. I respect that.

As a completely random aside - he apparently has some pretty bad feelings toward Marvel after IronMan 2. I saw a clip of him on a talk show or something like that, and when IM2 got brought up, he looked to get visibly irritated. Said something like how he'd never work with Marvel again after they changed his character so much due to all the footage they left on the cutting room floor.

(I'm paraphrasing TF out of it, but that was the gist of it.)

Seemed genuinely pissed about it.

lol he thought they were doing a character study of his Russian scientists descent into madness and obsession with vengeance. Can you believe they left out his long improv monologues spoken in the correct local dialect of Russian, and instead concentrated on the mech suits and electric whips!?

His appearance is a giant indication of mental illness. Mentally well people don't fuck themselves up with multiple rounds of terrible plastic surgery.

He's also a professional liar (actor) so he's well versed in manipulation/deception.

I suspect Rourke is a complicated guy.

He seems good hearted but I also suspect he has a lot of "yes-men" surrounding him.

As a result, reality becomes distorted when no one will tell you "no."

I met Mickey in Miami in 1986 or 87.  We hung in similar social cirlcles.

Mickey was the Brad Pitt of his time.   And he hated that.  Hated being the pretty boy.

He wanted to be the bad boy.  He wanted to be Chuck Zito, who hung out in our circle too.

That is why he had all the surgery and claimed to be a boxer.

Who, in their right mind, would want to be Chuck Zito?
