Liyon - What was that one PC game that came out in the late-90s that was a 3D first-person shooter, but you were inside a small craft and allowed full 360 degree movement ie. up, down, right, left. Anyone remember what I'm talking about. And you basically piloted the ship through tunnels and stuff. Game gave me a head-ache and made you constantly move your own head as you were operating the game controls, lol.

I've never seen that concept done every again.

That’s Decent

Super Mario 64

This is really the correct answer. It threw rocket fuel on the fire that was the pixel-to-polygon revolution.

Tekken, when it first came out the 3D fighting blew my mind. All we’d had at that point was 2D like Street Fighter.

There was Virtua Fighter by Sega that came out a little earlier. Tekken was the funner game though.

Oh shit yeah! I forgot about that. All I remember was the wow factor of a fight game in a 3D environment, was so cool back then.

SOCOM has got to be up there. Classic that they could never replicate after SOCOM 2.

Yeah Socom is a good mention.  I believe this was the first game that came with a headset you could use during gameplay.

I had one that you could swap out screens to hockey, football and soccer.

Fortnite

I dont play the game but the size of it along with the building and interactive environment with very minimal frame drops is pretty extraordinary.  That and their free and constant update model.  Game Changer

If you’re not saying Super Mario 64 you simply weren’t there. It remains the only game I ever played for the first time (9 fucking months before I could actually buy it, which killed me), and I was simply speechless. It may not hold up like Mario World does, but at the time what they achieved with that game was simply impossible

Hell ya! Descent!

I played that a lot when I first got my PC.

In fact it was the very last time I played any video games.
(I'm not a gamer...but that one was great at the time).

Perfect dark

What was innovative about perfect dark compared to goldeneye and other n64 shooters? (not trying to be snarky, actually curious as I haven't played it much and that was 20 years ago)
