The Ring.

I almost *never* get "scared" at horror movies. But this scene flat out gave me the heebie-effin-jeebies. Like I could literally feel my skin crawl - don't know what it was about it.

Funny story about The Ring:

I went & saw this in the theater with my (now) ex, her brother, and her dad. We were all at the Outer Banks for a long weekend, but it was off-season (like late October or November), so there was almost nobody there.

We went to the last (like 10pm) showing, and my ex mom-in-law stayed back to watch the kids.

Well, we finish the movie (we're the only ones there) and go to leave the theater. There is NOBODY ANYWHERE. Like no other movie patrons, no theater employees in the lobby...nothing.

We go outside and since it's both late (most people are in bed) and off-season (there's hardly anyone at OBX as it is), there weren't even people driving around or anything. It was kinda weird.

We're all talking about the movie when someone makes a joke like "man, I wouldn't wanna answer my phone if it randomly rang right now".

At that very INSTANT, my bro-in-law's phone rang...which of course, startled us all & made us laugh. He answers it and proceeds to go pale as a sheet - on the other end was nothing but a crackling, distant sound...*exactly* like the sound everyone would get when answering the phone in the movie.

Turns out it was my mom-in-law's phone. She was playing with the kids or some shit and somehow my bro-in-law got butt dialed (this was before smartphones and instant caller ID), hence the random call and background noise.

It was hilarious after we figured out what it was, but damn if his stomach wasn't in knots for a little bit. lol

This was another one. I remember after the first time I watched getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night then this scene popping in my head as I was walking back to bed, well, I may have ran the rest of the way and jumped into bed...I was 22.

So the first time I watched The Thing...

I was still a kid, but I was watching it with some friends on VHS and the suspense was still building.

Then we get to the scene where they flamethrower an infected corpse and the head falls off, sprouts legs like a spider then runs away.

My 14yo mind nearly exploded...it was so crazy, disturbing and utterly fucked up.

Every time I rewatch it takes me back.

I don't know if it "terrified" me (it sure did my wife, who jumped off the couch and ran out of the room), but the scene in "Zodiac" where Gylenhall meets the silent movie projectionist in his home was really creepy.  What makes it even weirder is the projectionist was played by the guy who did Roger Rabbit's voice.

The scene in the original "The Haunting" where the trapdoor at the top of the spiral staircase opens and the face looks down, and the visions of the ghosts standing in the countryside in broad daylight and staring at the governess in "The Innocents" also sent a chill down my spine.

The context of the scene is that an expedition is investigating a zone being affected by an alien phenomenon called the Shimmer.

The Shimmer is causing plants and animals to mutate. A bear that has mutated attacks the group and drags away one of its members.

Another member of the group goes crazy with paranoia and ties up her teammates in an abandoned village.

The bear returns but now it has a voice: It can repeat the screams of the woman it dragged away and killed.

I really liked this movie

^ Holy shit, Toiletclogger. Fuck you for posting that and making me watch it. It was so well done and unsettling. I haven't felt that bad about a horror movie scene in a while.

Haha! I saw that shit when I was like 8 or 9! It fucked me up for weeks!
