Started watching this with my wife and kids. Binged it over the weekend, not bad.

It's basically a fantasy+ mystery+ adventure story geared towards teens. Without giving anything away... a family suffers a tragedy and moves into an old mansion owned by their ancestors. Some weird shit happens with the house that lead the kids on a mystery/adventure.

Again, it's geared towards teens, so don't expect scary great suspense. Fairly decent acting with exception of a few characters.

Anyone else watch this? I will actually watch season two when it comes out.

Netflix sent me a notification, started watching it, first episode is a bit slow but it picks up good. Been binging it all weekend. Pretty good. Netflix has done it again.

I was going to watch it but it looked like a movie for kids.

My company put the foundation in for the shows filming set.

We put in the foundation for the trailer set as well.

The set is a massive house sitting on helical piles.

Was a neat experience working on a film set.

I enjoyed the comic a lot (written by Joe Hill) but I heard they toned it down a bit for the show.

Seen the trailer on Netflix. Is it okay for a 9 yr old?  What about 6?

Yes, it would be fine. My 6 year old daughter and 10 year old son watched it with us. Granted mine are a little more used to stuff than most as I build halloween props as a hobby and all of my kids have worked in several of our haunted houses as scarers, but still...

The show is fine for kids. It honestly only has one decent jump scare for the entire season. It's more of a mystery adventure than suspense or horror. The story actually might be a little too mature for them, but they will still enjoy the show because of the... without spoiling it... "weird stuff" that happens.

Can't compare as I don't read comics, but I'd compare this show on the level of goosebumps. It's definitely teen targeted, maybe even pre-teen. I only say teen because of the high school dynamics of the relationships and social life. As far as any horror/thriller tones... it's not scary in the least for anyone over 12, and barely creepy for anyone under it.

I only liked it because I like good adventure, I like creepy house stories, and I like piecing together mystery stories as they unfold. Added that the acting was pretty good for what it is and I can't really complain. The only actor I didn't like was the mom, especially mid season.

I enjoyed the comic as well. What do you think of Joe Hill's current series? Is it worth picking up?

I just started episode 1 to see what all the fuss is about. In the credits it says it's written by Joe Hill. That got my attention.

Little piece of trivia - Joe Hill is Stephen King's son. I've read some of his books and they are excellent.

Just saw the preview when I logged in for E6 of The Stranger. This may be next but seems geared for a more youthful audience.

I haven't seen them...

Another bit of trivia :  they made a pilot for for Locke & Key back in 2011 for Fox but they never picked it up..

I remember it being pretty close to the comic but it was a bit flat or lacked something.

We're on the 4th episode and my daughter (12) loves it! It creeps her out when they stick the key in the back of their necks lol!

Do we get to see the milfish mom naked? Does she bang her dead husband's brother?

I enjoyed it throughly. It started off slow, first episode I wasn't into it to be honest. I thought it was going to be dumb, but sticking with it and going into the 2nd I was hooked.

Definitely can't wait for season 2. This is definitely another dope show, I like it better than the outsider that's on HBO.

No and no. No nudity, it is safe for kids.
