Jeffrey Epstein's prison guards: 1 not a regular officer and both were working overtime, report says

In the hours before accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein's apparent suicide early Saturday morning, the two corrections officers assigned to watch over the disgraced financier in a special unit of New York City's federal lockup were reportedly in the midst of working overtime shifts -- and one of the individuals wasn't a regular guard, according to a union head.

Epstein, 66, was found unconscious in his cell Saturday at the Metropolitan Correctional Center and later pronounced dead -- immediately prompting questions about how such a high-profile inmate could have killed himself inside an ultra-secure facility just over two weeks after officials believed Epstein may have previously attempted suicide.

Serene Gregg, the president of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 3148, told the Washington Post the facility is functioning with less than 70 percent of the needed staffing, causing many employees to shoulder a 60- or 70-hour workweek.

Can we stop making a new thread for each article about Epstein? There are seriously 4 or 5 already with thousands of viewsand hundreds of replies. Pick one, and post this shit there.

All that means is the person primarily holds a job inside the prison besides being a correctional officer. Secretary, food service, facilities etc.. every federal correctional officer goes through the exact same training and gets the exact same law enforcement retirement. The person 99% started his or her career as an officer and then promoted to a "non-custody" job.. every single federal prison has the same thing happening, some of the non-custody have uncapped overtime so they make a shit ton more than a regular officer when they work OT

There is an easy solution to avoiding threads you aren't interested in.

Or... Or... We could simply not clog the forum with redundant shit.

Classic reporting from Fox -- paraphrasing a story from a real -- i.e., "liberal" -- journalism outfit.

Has Fox ever actually broken a story? I mean one they weren't forced to retract because it was bullshit.

Sorry to go off-topic.

You spelled CNN wrong.

Sure, and we should. When there are already 5 threads on the main page about a specific subject, we absolutely should.

Anyone know exactly how Epstein died?

I assume he had no belt, shoelaces nor anything to hang oneself.

They are saying he hung himself, off his bed post, with a bed sheet. Not sure how one does that.

There is so much fuckery regarding this.....and yet...The truth will never be revealed. They will chalk it up to incompetence and "Tired CO's working a lot of OT" (what a joke). They will announce complete overhauls of the system to include training. The story will die out, and no one will give two shits about Epstein in a year other than conspiracy theorists and his victims.

I find the Epstein death really fascinating.  The FBI's most prolific defendant  commits suicide in a jail where no one has successfully done it in over 21 years.  Guards are removed 3 hours beforehand, and the camera coincidentally goes dark 2 hours before he dies.

But I dont buy into the Clinton or Trump conspiracy theories.  My understanding is there were quite a few very powerful and influential people in his logs that he might have potentially testified against.  From all political affiliations.

It's like watching one of those bad murder mystery movies where the lights go dark in a room and when they come back on the person is dead.  And the rest of the movie is trying to figure out which of the seven people in the room is the murderer.  Except in this case there are hundreds of suspects.  And then there is the angle that either his death was faked to protect him from these individuals or he arranged an escape himself.

But given all the circumstances, in this particular case the least likely thing to have happened was the official story.  It's possible but seems extremely unlikely.

It was reported this morning the FBI is (or was) raiding his compound and investigating.

Isn't regular procedure to raid and confiscate evidence at the same time of the arrest?  I can't imagine them having left critical evidence unattended there for over a month.

It reads like classic murder mystery who done it. So many wanted him dead for so many reasons, all the possible false leads are there this can't be real. Or can it?
