We have one of the best avo trees I have ever had.  They are big and buttery.  Ive never seen a better avocado for sale but other people might have better ones not for sale.  Eating a haas from the store is subsitance living.

One thing good about planting a haas seed is they fruit all year long.  They are subpar avocados but like sex there really is no such thing as bad sex.

Avocados grow like weeds here.  The only limit is how much land you have.  They can take 5 to 7 years to fruit though.

Another side benifit is wild board love avos too.  They get conditioned by the thump of falling a avos.  My friendlives by a valley that has several trees.  He throws a big rock down the valley and pigs come running.  He then shoots one with his bow and arrow and has dinner

Anyone know about the different types ?

I thought they were all huge trees, but there's one in my neighborhood, that's only about 12 feet and has ripe avocados

The best trees I've seen are pruned to be no taller than 5-10 feet. Otherwise they can get way out of control. Super tall so that you can't even reach 80% of the fruit.

Grandparents had a massive avocado tree in the backyard of their Redondo Beach home. It produced next to nothing. Between its substandard yield and the wildlife, I maybe had 14 avocados there over the course of 25 yrs.

Rats, skunks, opossums, coyotes, crows, mice, and anything else that can eat it will.

The tree needs a mate too.
