What a great fucking song. Hits me in the feels every time I really listen to it. Am I the only one?

There are some other songs that really hit ya in the gut.

Awesome song. The cover by Shinedown sounded really good too imo.

Was the song I picked for my mother of the groom dance at my wedding.

I disagree. Shinedowns version just sounds angry. I find it totally misses the mark.

Yep really like this song.

Have a long history of hearing it in interesting places and times.

Speaking of it hitting you, I have made the mistake of playing this song when spending time with ladies from another culture/country/English is not the first language. Drinking a little remember some old friends and times. Song has zero meaning to others around you.

You know one of those moments where you pretend to go look out the window at the view.

Great song

I knew there would be someone that would bring up shinedown’s version in the first 10 posts

A poor substitute. Skynyrds version is the original and the best

Elaine from Seinfeld dated a guy who got like when Desperado came on the radio. But kidding aside, I know exactly what you mean.

Original is the best, such an awesome bass line. I like the Deftones version to.

Disagreed! The beauty of the original is that he sings it low key as he always did. The Shinedown (horrible band name) guy does his best Chris Cornell impression and tries to inject all kinds of angst into it while simultaneously all but muting out the rest of the music. Less is more.

Talked to these guys quite a bit in an airport terminal waiting around for a delayed flight. We happened to be scattered around the same seating area camped out trying to get a bit of rest.

It was years ago, the fellow was telling me he was friends with Billy Bob Thornton and working on a project with him.

I think this was a flight to Las Vegas (or maybe LA on way to Japan), just too long ago.

The thought of the family history and airplanes did cross my mind.
