Film wasn't great..  Some decent performances and the bad guys were interesting but it lacked the style of the original and it felt very formulaic

The original was great in and of itself,  it not at all accurate to the book. I am looking forward to seeing it.

To the OP , As a man who knows who he is, I don’t let what other people do to affect how I feel about myself or others. Some of you ought to try it. Stephen King is the greatest American writer of our time.

WTF are you trying to say? Are you a male feminist?

King is an absolute loon. "Bag of Bones" was the last decent thing he wrote in the late 90's.

Say what you want about an artist like King because it is all subjective.... but you crossed a line by insulting RVD.

The audio was lame as hell.  Sudden loud noises aren't always scary.  Sometimes, they're just annoying as fuck.

King is the only author I know ow of that tends to have movie adaptations that are better than his sometimes  mediocre writing.  He’s a good writer but he pumps out so much shit that like 50% of his books or more are straight trash.   Both The Shining and Stand By Me are better in movie form imo.  The Shining in particular is better because Kubrick didn’t follow Kings book that faithfully.

Is there any other authors out there... where the movie adaptations tend to be better than their books?

Ha, not a feminist. Just a man who doesn’t feel that other people need to bother me or my sensibilities. Live and let live man, hating takes too much energy.

The 3 books he wrote about Bill Hodges were fantastic.

I hate his politics, but the book Dr. Sleep was absolutely perfect.

The book was great and I'm looking forward to the movie.

You obviously never read the book "The Shining". Because Danny was the focus of the book, not Jack.

I've read the book several times, and I disagree with this.

The story mainly surrounded Jack and his background, especially his alcoholism.

Gen Y faggot. Because my IQ is better than a chimp, I was able to read novels before adulthood.

The OG is full of pussies these days. Obviously, I'm joking around. King is the greatest fiction writer ever, but he has written past his expiration date.

Declaring Stephen King the greatest fiction writer ever while bragging about your intelligence is OG Dunning Kruger effect on level 10.

Maybe you should give your job 100% effort and actually earn what they pay you instead of fucking off.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but King has been on record saying he does not like the Kubrick film. Many of you might not know he remade a tv adaptation of the Shining as a miniseries years later.  It wasn't overly well received.

'Is there any other authors out there... where the movie adaptations tend to be better than their books?  '

There are also a lot of very weak made for TV adaptations of Kings work too...

How do the Bond books compare to the films? I haven't read enough to judge but I did prefer the film of Casino Royale to its source material. The film of the Warriors is far better than the book and though I haven't read them Jaws and the Godfather are both universally considered better.

The fuckin dude from wings. It was mostly faithful to the book.

But Kubrick did one of the best horror movies or.movies in general and king hated it.

The Godfather 1 & 2. Superbly acted and elegantly paced films.

The book is more like a supermarket paperback. Lot of weird tangents in it, like a whole subplot of Lucy (the girl Sonny fucks at the wedding) having a giant vagina. Like so huge that most dicks are too small for her. It is a big problem for her. She eventually finds a doctor boyfriend who arranges her to have surgery so that she can enjoy getting fucked by a normal sized dick.

I'm not joking, that's totally in The Godfather novel.
