Detective Shelby, one of the main detectives working the case was woken up in the middle of the night by his child's screams..his son said he woke up to a noise on the roof and looked out the window and a man dressed in black was somehow hanging upside down looking into the window..he wasn't trying to break the window, just simply looking..as soon as the kid started screaming the man in the mask ran off..Detective Shelby thought for sure this man that was on the roof was ONS taunting him...

Ons had a knack for jumping onto the roofs of homes and walking atop chain link fences..LE had entire areas staked out with infrared and tripwires yet ONS escaped every time..once LE had an u der over team meet at a local restaurant..the restaurant received a phone call that basically said "I know what they are there for..I'll wait until a later date"

This fucking guy was freaky

Another interesting bit is when police brought in search dogs, when they detected ONS scent, they went nuts..the dog trainers said they have never seen his dogs behave that way..he said generally when they get amped up, the perp is drug addicted, sick or has something off about them..ONS was known for turning down thermostats when he entered the home ..this led some to believe he had had some form of disease even back then..that or he just wanted things as quiet as possible..

Another thing is if he invaded a home and the woman had scars around her belly or vagina, he would often massage the area before raping..strange Ehh?

Ons would have the victims tied up and he would often walk about the bedroom frantically talking in different voices, alluding to a partner he had, or about a mommy that was mean to him..list goes on and on..sometimes he would burst into tears for a few seconds only to later fly into a rage and then rape

He had a small and slim penis, a high pitched voice, and was probably a teen when he started.

Fuck, that's some creepy shit about hanging upside down!

And the call to the food place? How could he know they were there? Did he have law enforcement buddies?

And the dogs going beserk, man, that's pretty out there due to dogs never going THAT mad over a scent.

How do you know so much, and what do you reckon was the outcome of the guy? Any good books to read about him?

It was a it was a convenience store.  A dumbass in uniform kept coming out of the back room to talk to the undercover guts and ONS saw it through the window. Or he had ties inside the police force.

I have a morbid fascination with TONS and guys like him. He was like something out of a movie.

In 2001, California law enforcement linked DNA evidence from the Original Night Stalker's crimes to DNA found from Northern California three victims of an unidentified serial rapist dubbed the East Area Rapist. The East Area Rapist raped fifty women in the Sacramento area in the early 70’s. When he entered the home of a couple, before raping the woman, he put dishes on the stomach of the boyfriend; he would be alerted during the course of the rape by rattling dishes if the boyfriend moved.

Citizens called a town meeting to discuss the East Area Rapist. One man stood up and insulted the men who allowed their women to be raped while trying to balance dishes on their stomach.

A few weeks later, this same man’s wife was raped while dishes were placed on his stomach. Police theorize that the East Area Rapist was in attendance at the meeting and singled the man out.

After the 50th rape, the East Area Rapist moved to Southern California where he graduated to murder as reported in the beginning of this story. He’s never been identified or apprehended.

Damn, if that meeting part is true - holy fuck!

How do you commit FIFTY CRIMES of that nature and not get caught?

It's true. Lieutenant Richard Shelby was at the meeting. It was some Italian guy who stood up and started ranting how it wouldn't happen to him and sure enough 7 months later it did.

Now it's possible it could've just been be a coincidence.

TONS was a smart guy with possible ties to law enforcement or at least a good understanding of what to do and how to do it to not be caught. He was a guy that did a great job of blending in. He likely would do surveillance on victims for weeks. That makes him even scarier.

Although he did come close once to being caught being chased on foot by a I want to say a FBI agent. Could be wrong on that though might've been a cop.

Internet - Listen to the casefile podcasts on it. That'll give you a solid and haunting overview.

He really is one of the most prolific predators in known recent history, but very seldom discussed.

That is odd isn't it? I mean he's not even the most infamous "night stalker"

Yes many speculate ONS had ties to law enforcement..he did pretty tricky things to throw off LE..he always talked with clenched teeth..

The higher up in the army that was said to be the Visalia Ransacker was army sergeant Terry Boyer..he can be linked to the ONS in many different ways..his prints were found at 2-3 different Visalia Ransacker location but he claims he was there doing recruiting for the army..problem is, the owners of these homes claim no army personnel ever came to their house! This was not investigated further though..why?!

Google Terry L Boyer..he is the on many insiders think is ONS..you can read his army profile, high,y decorated guy..many speculate ONS had been to vietnam due to certain tactics he used when breaking into homes..

Since he seemed to go in and out of homes at will, some say he was involved in real estate..they said he would act as a buyer, come in and unlock windows, leave them open and then hit the next night.real estate agents talked about some pretty strange buyers at the time but they were checked out and dismissed..that's the problem with this case, every Poi gets cleared and they have to start fresh again..

ONS would drive into a neighborhood, park a few blocks away from the hone he hit..then he usually would steal a bicycle to to get quickly to the home and even done, exit quickly to. His car..often he would hit homes with drainage canals in the back..people later reported suspicious vehicles but they were never the same so he had access to many different vehicles..

Profilers stay Ons if confronted by police would not go lightly..they said he would in all likelihood get in a shoutout with police and die in that manner..he breaks typical serial killer profiles in several different ways..

I just finished listening to the casefile episodes on this, the 70s were a really fucking different time. Time and time again people would not call in a strange man going thru backyards in the middle of the night.

He was cunning. It's not easy to do the horrible things he did the number of times he did them and not be identified or arrested.

Another one with believed ties to law enforcement is The Long Island serial killer.

In those days, a woman was driving home late from her friends..she looks to the left and sees a guy dressed in all black on his knees crawling around some bushes..she for some reason doesn't think much of it and drives onto the next street..she hears a tapping on her window and looks and sees a guy in a ski mask tapping her window with his knife..she freaks out and takes off..she looks in mirror and the guy stands still for a moment then takes off after her in a full out sprint..

This supposedly happened to some woman back then but it seems a little off..Made up..this case would make for a great movie..

I've made a deal in these type of situations with my wife. It was mutual, and nearly unspoken.

We agreed, if anybody ever home invades/car jacks/takes us hostage, I'm going for it.

Weve decided ill start the attack, which she will take part in. We will attempt to kill them, via beating/stabbing/shooting or submission. Either we die or we don't, either way we aren't getting tied up or taken anywhere. Unless multiple attackers are present, or they simply overpower us, they will not enjoy home invading or car jacking (crash on purpose is the plan there) the trash people.

I would never be in a situation to lay in a floor with dishes stacked on me. The dishes are in the floor and either I'm mortally wounded or in mortal Kombat with a K.

Fuck letting anybody restrain me or my wife and take us somewhere, I've read too much about this shit and would rather go out in a fight.
