My wife is an RN and left the medical field 10 years ago to go to Law School, but has kept her license up over the years just in case.  She received an email today from the State licensing board that she has to update her contact information and give her city of residency in case they have to mandate she go to a hospital to work.  They are going to force her to go in to an infected area or else loose her license.

Anyone else hear of this happening locally to them?  I hope the hospitals understand that she bills $250/hr and that bill rate will be paid.

What's the worst thing that could happen if she ignores the email?

She loses a license from an old profession that she kept around just in case.

If she's making $250/hr it sounds like she can tell them to go fuck themselves.

Bills $250/hr, not make.  The guy she works for is going to be pissed if he looses her billable hours.

Fight it. She didn't have to keep this license all this time but she did. This is some commie bullshit.

Did she agree to that as a condition of her license?  Well then, sorry.

I seriously doubt it.

They can require her to maintain her contact information, but they can't require her to work. It's a violation of the 13th Amendment.

Tons of hospitals are calling retired doctors, nurses, etc. Technically speaking if you still have a license or certification then you are still held to those standards. Working or not. My wife runs the pacu in a very large hospital on the east coast. They already reached out to all the previously retired or employed medical professionals. Some agree to come back. Most did not.

If this gets out of hand those hospitals are going to be out stretched. Stay home if you can. Dont be an idiot. Listen and follow the suggestions. They are there to help not only you but everyone else.

Not to derail this thread, but nurses who have had their licences REVOCKED, are now getting them reinstated.

She should go back to nursing until this is over. It’s a duty to the ppl, that’s why the USA is great.

My wife heard this rumor, but couldnt find anyone to substantiate it. Her license expires in a few months. Looks like she'll let it lapse.
