This event sounds like a good time to shift some manufacturing back to America and stop relying on cheap Chinese shit.

The biggest effect will be that any country experiencing mass infections will have a significant percentage of the workforce sick and laid up......simultaneously.

The "new normal" will be facemasks and strict disenfecting measures.

"Fast food" will be hardest hit.

Didn’t hear tents but heard they were bringing in infected guys into a densely populated area in SoCal.  Retarded

Saw a picture of one on twitter in Lincoln Nebraska. Looks like someone went to home depot and picked up a temporary shed thingy.

I went into the ER yesterday in Santa Cruz, and they had a quarantine tent set up in the parking lot. Primarily if anyone comes in with symptoms, they put them there instead of the general waiting room.

Gotcha. I wasn’t questioning your statement, more just wanting to read more as I live in LA as well. Thank you.

Taking out China and Iran this is how the stats look from https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries as of mid day today

10335 Total Cases

142 deaths (1.4% case fatality rate)
637 recovered (6.2%)

9556 Active Cases

9201 Asymptomatic/Mild Cases (96.3%)
355 Serious/Critical Cases (3.7%)

The vast number of those active cases are South Korea. They are BY FAR the leaders in testing asymptomatic and mild cases. This helps to give us a different perspective on the virus. Their numbers look like this...

5186 Total Cases

34 deaths (0.7% case fatality rate)
34 recovered (0.7%)

5118 Active Cases

5091 Asymptomatic/Mild Cases (99.5%)
27 Serious/Critical Cases (0.5%)

I don't know why their serious case rate is so low. It could be that it is just simply reality or it could be a lack of updated data.

They use the tents in Italy as well, it is to keep separated those that show up with coronavirus symptoms from regular patients that need the emergency room.

4:35 pm: Mortality rate of COVID-19 climbs

H/O: NIH CORONAVIRUS

This scanning electron microscope image shows SARS-CoV-2 (orange)—also known as 2019-nCoV, the virus that causes COVID-19—isolated from a patient in the U.S., emerging from the surface of cells (green) cultured in the lab.

Source: NIAID-RML

The mortality rate of COVID-19 is significantly higher than previous estimates, world health officials said. Globally, about 3.4% of confirmed patients have died, said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization. In comparison, the seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected. The WHO officials said last week that the mortality rate of COVID-19 can differ, ranging from 0.7% to up to 4%, depending on the quality of the health-care system where it’s treated. Early in the outbreak, scientists had concluded the death rate was around 2.3%. —Lovelace, Higgins-Dunn

I'm not sure why all of these news articles read like we have any idea what the mortality rate is. There is most likely a significant amount of people that have the virus yet have little to no symptoms so they've never sought medical treatment.

Probably quite a few deaths that were never tested as well. Maybe it all works out?

That's why many are using South Korea as a model for more accurate information.  They have tested over 130,000 already including many showing no symptoms.  Their numbers are bringing the overal mortality rate to around 0.2-0.4%.  Which sounds a lot better than 2-4%

Maybe there are some but if someone's symptoms are bad enough they are gonna die, there is a pretty good chance they are gonna head to the hospial.
