One of my close friends who is from there but fled to Colombia years ago told me about his brother's experiences going on right now who still remains in Venezuela. The last time I was there, gasoline was less than a penny per gallon. He told me it is now 3usd per liter so $12 a gallon. For a place that makes like ten bucks a month..

He also said that water got overwhelmingly expensive and it's to the point where people are digging for water sources.

So yeah, hearing this makes me just want to panic buy 6 months of supplies at Costco tomoz lol..

It's been bad but it got much worse due to corona. I was wondering how a place like that was doing when places like the US are starting to slowly see the desperation and panic.

Hes a little bit outside Caracas, about 20 miles or so I think.  He grows fruits and vegetables to get by and sells them as well.  We send 200 a month, which is a lot of money there.  He stayed with us for about 6 months in 2017, it took him weeks to adjust and just calm down.  He spends most days in lines.  His visa is expired and his wife (not mother in law) does not have a visa.  They havent been issueing new visas for a couple years now, hardly any flights out anyways.

Nothing to do with their demise, this happened well after. It was 100% socialism at fault.

It was Trump saying to Maduro, if your going to let your country starve, you're going to starve with them. It was done to try and topple him so we can stop kids digging in trash for a crumb of food

You Do realize the result of Venezuela today has been a problem in the making since at least the 80s, right? Sanctions have nothing to do with whats going on there now.
