Did my 20 TGU’s.  As a relatively fit man for my age these are always humbling. Clearly I need to work on core strength and balance.  I had a good time chucking at myself as I fumbled my way through.

Thanks for starting this challenge. I have been needing something a little different to break me out of a workout rut.

This sounds badass.  Ima do it.  I’m a few days behind you.

is the clean/squat/press using two KB’s or one?

Awesome! You are only one day behind (this is Day 2) so actually it wouldn't be hard to catch up. Do the 100 clean/ squat/ press and 20 Turkish Get Ups today and you'll be all set.

And the Clean/ Squat/ Press is done with one kettlebell. I recommend you do 10 on one side, then 10 on the other side for one set of 20. Repeat for 5 sets. 20 x 5 = 100.

Ah, got it, thank you.

I’ll do those tonight after practice.

Shit my upper hamstrings are so damn sore from yesterday's squats. I can't believe how out of shape those muscles are.

I must be weak as hell because I couldn't get through the 100 yesterday with my 25lb kettlebell. It was just too much and I tapped out at 40.

First of all, great job at least getting 40. If you're out of shape, 100 clean/ squa/ press are NO JOKE.

That being said, I really think that next time you should push yourself to finish the 100. Break them up into sets of 5 on each side. Take the whole day; every time you walk into your bedroom, do a quick set.

It's not for the benefits of doing 100; it's for the benefits of not quitting. Of showing to yourself that you are capable of pushing through the discomfort. That your mind is stronger than your body.

If you stop every time it gets hard, you will condition yourself to stop and it will get easier and easier to skip the last set. Easier and easier to throw in the towel. But if you practice pushing through, you will discover that you are much stronger than you think you are. You will discover a deep well of strength below the surface that you can access. But you have to practice grinding it out and pushing yourself in order to break through to that wellspring of strength. Grit can be learned.

I'm not giving any of this advice like I'm some kind of badass, by the way. When I got my new kettlebell I had to do sets of five and I nearly puked after every set. The important thing is to not submit to the iron. You are stronger than your 25 pound kettlebell.

Anyways, end of rant. Great job dude. Please keep it up, and keep us updated on your progress. Today it's 100 swings. Get after it!!

Yea, the first couple days are the worst.

Luckily this challenge is structured to give each chain of musces a 2 day rest between workouts. Also by doing a different workout every morning your blood will keep pumping and that should help you get over the soreness quickly.

Use this as a good reason to never stop doing squats. Once you've done them consistently for a few weeks, you simply will not get sore (in the same way/ to the same extent)

400 swings today, I seriously thought the bell was going to fly out of my hands. I think held on with my fingernails for the last 40 swings.

Hoping everyone stays consistent and sees.some results over the course of the month

Okay, so I have a lower back issue that I'm recovering from and I did about ten swings and this exercise is not going to work for me. Can anybody recommend a different exercise for me on these days that won't put a toll on my lower back?

I'm doing the TGUs while not letting the weight flop over - trying to keep the bell above the handle throughout.  Not sure if this adds any benefit.  More strain on forearms and I can't do as much weight.

Anyone do the same?

I did it, but was having some problems with getting the movements down, so finished without the kettlebell.

That is gnarly.

I only do a quarter of that. And even then, I break it up into four small sets of 25 swings. You are a beast dude!

And yes, consistency is key. I can promise you with 100% confidence that I am going to see this challenge through, down to the last rep.

Hope y'all stick with it too!!

Yea I definitely wouldn't do swings with a bad back.

I think doing some mobility stuff, dynamic stretching, and gutwork would be best. A strong core is essential for a healthy back.

Also you could do 100 pushups on those days. Do it in as few sets as possible. I can do a set of 20 at a time, so that would be five sets.

That would be extremely difficult for me, even with my smaller 35 lb kettlebell. I do mine the standard way. But I imagine it would be awesome for developing better balance-under-load. Which TGUs are great for already.

Keep it up!
