Jon Jones, arguably the greatest fighter in UFC history, has been in a bitter, week-long argument with league president Dana White over potential compensation for a superfight vs. top heavyweight Francis Ngannou. And now Jones says he has given up his title.
Jones was asked if he was giving up his title and replied "yes."
White says Jones will determine his own future.
"Jon Jones is one of the greatest to ever do it," said White in a statement to Neil Davidson for The Canadian Press. "The decision he wants to make regarding his career is up to him. The reality is that he's made enough money from fighting that he's now in the position to retire and never work again in his life."
