UnderGround Forums DFW: PVZ should definitely test free agency

Mediagenic women's flyweight Paige VanZant chose to fight out her contract on Saturday night, and is now testing free agency.

“I’m excited. I’ve never been in this position ever, so I think it’s an important position for me to be in,” said VanZant before UFC 251. “You don’t really know your value until somebody else tells you what it is, and it’s the option of multiple people that say what they think my value is. So I’m going to gain a lot of knowledge.”

PVZ has 2.6 million followers on Instagram, appeared on Dancing with the Stars, and saw her autobiography published. Her appeal is part toughness, part skill, and in no small part is because of her looks. When looking at the odds for UFC 251, one of them was not like the others - no fighter faced odds over +200, except for PVZ at longer than +500. So now Paige VanZant is 2-4 her last six fights, and has fought just five times in the last four years.

At the UFC 251 post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White was asked if he wants PVZ's next fight to be in the UFC?

“I like Paige,” replied White. “I like Paige. It’s like Blaydes – when Blaydes fought. When you talk all that stuff, ‘I’m not getting paid enough,’ and fighting inconsistently, one time in the last year, and then get smoked in the first round of the fight, she should definitely test free agency.”

Might as well see how much Bellator is willing to pay to have some fake tittys bouncing around their cage

Ya know, when they start putting on shows again in a year. Which I guess lines up pretty well with Paige’s fight schedule.

I still don't know what PVZ was thinking saying all this shit the week of her last fight in the contract. Don't piss off your boss, especially when there is about a90% chance you are going to lose the fight.

There are no consequences in the new world, didn't you know that? /sarcasm

It's definitely advisable for her.  She might be able to catch on in ONE or Rizin, where the levels of competition aren't what they are in the UFC.

It's just the nature of the sport.  One would have to think that at some point, WMMA will evolve to where the more and more Amanda Ribas's come into the fold, the less and less PVZ's will even make the cut to get into the UFC.

She should definitely see what interest is out there for her, but also start considering post-MMA life, because with all due respect, she's levels below some of the girls coming up and doesn't have the natural talent, physical attributes, or skills to make a significant turnaround and get to a high level.

It just is what it is. I've become more and more fond of Dana's quote that this is not a career, it is an opportunity.  Those are very wise words.

I don't wish her ill at all.   When she did fight in the Octagon, she showed up with heart and fought to the best of her abilities.   They just weren't enough at that particular level.

Would still rather see her fight than pretty much anyone else in WMMA.

Sooooooo, Dana, why did you put this inconsistent fighter on the main card?

Her and her man should just throw on a Go Pro when they're doing their at home nude activities.

Because with god, her husband, and IG fans on her side, she truly felt like the queen of the world.

ahe thought she would win and basically say, “ I told you”.

losing by sub in 1 round is brutal and funny.

She should go into pro wrestling.

This probably the most logical,  and best option, for her.  It would give her more money (what she says she wants) and more attention (what she really wants).  Shes got the look for it too.  I know shes only a 5 where you cocksmokes live, but in actuality she is a pretty and fit girl with fake tits, just like the WWE "divas".  Why not?

She shouldn't of said anything about the ufc.  She's in a unique situation where she uses the ufc as a side hussle to her promote her main job on the gram.   No one gives a fuck about her if she wasn't in the ufc.  Without the ufc she's an average 7.5 with the fake tits.

To use her name to get some buys and then humiliate her in front of the world knowing she would lose bad.

Paige was a moron talking shit considering she has barely fought and been losing more than winning.

She came into the UFC with a 3-1 record and started her UFC career in 2014 after a year and a half of not fighting. Then she fought fought once in 2014 and won. In 2015 she fought a record high 3 times in that year and went 2-1. In 2016 she fought twice and went 1-1. Then she didn't fight at all in 2017 and came back in 2018 and lost. Then she waited until 2019 to fight again and won. Now she lost again in 2020.

None of these opponents she fought with the exception of Namajunas is a sniff of anything close to title contention so she's a journeyman with a UFC record of 5-4 and an overall record of 8-5. She fights once a year to keep her face in the public eye of the UFC and whores herself out on IG to make money now.

She's not going to get more money on a contract from UFC. They are going to let her go. If she gets picked up somewhere else then sure, let her build up her record in leagues with lesser competition and make a run back to the UFC but if not, the UFC can throw lowballs at her and she either takes it or doesn't come back.

I’m with Apple.

She has huge cross-platform appeal.

Shes going to get cashed out to show up fight night and cashed out for logos on those titties.

Shes a married Christian woman...chick could land ABC or Nike as a sponsor. Easy money.
