Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White recently warned all the “motherfu*kers” who plan on illegally streaming UFC 257 — and any other pay-per-view (PPV) event in 2021 — on Jan. 23, saying that he has a special surprise for them once he catches them riding dirty.
And there will likely be more pirates hitting the internet in hopes of finding an free stream after ESPN raised the cost of UFC PPV events another $5, bringing the price to $69.99. Still, White is doubling down on his threat by saying that these “criminals” will be reduced to crying and begging one he gets through with them.
“We’ve been one of the leagues that has been so proactive on piracy,” White said in an interview with TheMacLife. (transcribed by MMA Junkie). “I love how cool and tough these guys act on social media because – let me tell you what, we’ve caught a lot of people. Let me tell you what they do: They cry. They cry, and they beg not to be prosecuted and all this other stuff,” said White before revealing the promotion recently overcame a big hurdle in its never-ending fight against illegal streaming.
“We just overcame a huge hurdle in the piracy world, and we’re going to catch some of these guys in 2021, and I look forward to the crying and the begging. We’ll see how tough they are when they get caught.”

The move is also seen as a means to exploit the relaxation in COVID 19 related restrictions.
However, fight fans are not impressed by this move as they see a price tag of USD 69 as a high amount for a drive-in experience. Tickets for movies or other screenings are exponentially cheaper in drive-in theatres.
Fans are not expecting the illegal streaming to be stemmed by this move.
In a hilarious Reddit thread, fans have openly mocked Dana White’s decision. Fans have left little to the imagination as they discuss what will happen when a fight card is being broadcasted at a drive-in. Click here to read the full exchange.
On a more serious note though, illegal streaming of UFC events has been a thorn in the side of the promotion. Though there have been no numbers released, losses due to illegal streams can go up to hundreds of million dollars annually. This problem may increase in 2021 due to an increase in PPV buy rates.
Dana White, however, will be hoping for lesser piracy in 2021 as COVID restrictions are slowly lifted internationally. We may even get to see crowds returning to UFC fights in 2021.

Pretty sure he's referring to the people who upload the content, not the ones who watch/stream what is uploaded.

- Websites - Ad based free sites. Semi reliable. All the usual suspects are still around. 1080p isn’t too hard to find.
- Social Media - Live video feeds on Facebook/twitch. Semi reliable. Various qualities.
- VPN - $5/month, set IP to Netherlands, watch on official site. Legit 1080p.
- IPTV - $10/month subscription service. Legit 1080p.

So he is the asshole who lobbied for the 10 year felony. Dude needs to get what’s coming to him. If enough guys like Spencer fisher end up debilitated with nothing to lose. Maybe somebody does something.

With a PPV package now costing $89.98, US customers may soon begin feeling the pinch. Meanwhile, customers of legal streaming platform S Sport Plus in Turkey, for example, not only get UFC events but those from NBA, NFL, WWE and the Premier League too – all for less than $23 per year.

Wouldn't be hard to defeat, apply random noise to the audio stream and or film the the tv instead of broadcasting the stream directly. Let's assume they did find a way to get rid of all illegal streams, I think they would be surprised that it would actually hurt the UFCs popularity and barely increase paid streams.
