On February 7, at the age of just 60, Rick 'Rocky' Lockridge of New Jersey passed away after suffering from a debilitating stroke a number of years earlier. Rocky fought his way up the professional boxing ladder beginning in 1978, and became the USBA featherweight champ in 1980. He became the World Super Featherweight Champion and Lineal champ with a first-round knockout of then-undefeated Roger Mayweather in 1984. Lockridge lost a majority decision to Julio
Cesar Chavez in 1986 but regained the World Super Featherweight Title in 1987.

Without family or friends to cover his burial expenses, the Association of Boxing Commission Retired Fighter Fundmade a gift in his honor to the May Funeral Home in Camden, New Jersey. The Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) is a Federally-mandated 501c3 tax-exempt entity whose mission is to help create rules, regulations, and suggestions to state legislatures to help protect the health and welfare of our combat sports athletes - men and women put their physical, mental, and emotional well-being on the line.

The ABC has implemented the Retired Fighter Fundto help retired fighters who may have fallen on hard times due to mental or physical health issues related to injuries sustained while competing in combat sports.100% of donations goes directly to aid fighters - oo one on the Board of the Fund accepts any payments whatsoever, and there are no administrative expenses from donations; to donate please visit www.retiredfighterfund.com.

Commendable. Rocky KO's uncle Roger in the 1st round way back in the day. His fight against Wilfredo Gomez was one I watched on Wide World of Sports when I first started boxing and becoming fanatical about the sport. RIP Rocky Lockridge!
