Will Khabib tap?

I am guessing NO with all of Khabib's "tap like chicken" business.

Fortunately for Khabib, it will probably be a choke since most all of Tony's subs are chokes.

But it would be awesome if Tony caught him in some leglock and Khabib has to decide, pride or leg.

Ultimately if he is caught in a sub I think khabib will tap. He's not stupid so he won't allow himself to be damaged because of his pride.

Very possible, tferg is a beast.

Easily khabibs biggest challenge so far.

But will the fight even happen? There's a guy who don't fight no more just waiting for a rematch. He has a big dollar sign on his forehead.

Yea, he isn’t foolish. He will tap and congratulate tony and then fight Conor....

Let me tell you something based on my extensive knowledge of Khabib. Tony has precisely zero chance of subbing him unless he drops him with a punch or something first and he's semi conscious. Even then probably no.

Watching an exhausted Poirier almost choked Khabib unconscious, I would not say Tony has zero chance.

of course he's team played it off. Anyone that has ever trained for any substantial amount of time knows that turning to your side like that is not a strategy to tire someone's arms, it's because if you stay where you are, you are going out.

This, khabib has not been close to submitted and I don’t see ferg changing that. I would love it if he did. I would honestly love to see Ferguson win via blood choke. No chance he taps though. He has given far too much shit to Conor for tappity tap tapping to do anything other than lose consciousness.

Khabib will never tap. He knows his father would smash him if he did. I have never been to Dagestan but have been in Soviet Georgia for the Tbilisi tournament, and to Kazakhstan twice  - and these guys just don’t think like we do. It’s a whole different mindset - some would die rather than tap. I used to think us American wrestlers were pretty hardcore tough until I met some of those guys.

To a leg lock or other submission that could cause a career ending injury, yes.  A choke, no.

If Khabib is to lose I see it happening like Fedor Vs Werdum or Khabib Vs Tibau.

A decision against someone who is difficult to take down or a sub from him rushing to the ground with a specialist.

In Ferguson's case it would likely be a choke using Khabib's aggressive grappling game against him.

It isn't likely but I think it is the most likely way Khabib loses.

In terms of a decision that'll likely be if he fights GSP or Usman/Woodley.  If he loses and I was a betting man that would be my bet.

Tony is pretty smooth with the D'arce and has a body/arms built to sink it. Khabib could be susceptible to it in his take downs.

Regarding leg locks, a fighter can have his ACL blown with a heel hook in the first round and still keep on going with minimal notice during the fight. I'm not sure Khabib will tap to a sub....maybe he goes unconscious on a choke or the ref stops it on a sub....but I don't think he'll tap.

He was nowhere near subbing Khabib. His legs were free. He actually deliberately dove into it to gas out Dustins arms, which worked because he finished him right after.

Actually Khabib said it was Poiriers first attempt that was close, not the second, but if you watch that it was like 2 seconds long and Khabib was just trying to make Dustin feel better.

Javier Mendez actually said he laughed at that sub attempt at the end of the fight because he knew what Khabib was doing. He also said he's never seen Khabib tap... in practice.

Timestamped:

Deliberately dove in. LOL. okay.

Dustin got the neck fair and square.  Khabib defended like an expert, but he got his head snatched into a choke and he wasnt in there because he wanted to be

Khabib himself said the first one was really tight. His experience helped him stay cool and relax.

He was nowhere near getting choked unconscious. He got stuck for a bit but was in really no danger. Khabib was being gracious to Dustin by saying it was really tight.
