UnderGround Forums Luke Rockhold not retiring, maybe wants Weidman

In 2015 Luke Rockhold beat Chris Weidman for the UFC middleweight championship, it was his sole fight that year. Rockhold lost the belt in the first defense, to Michael Bisping; that was his sole fight in 2016. Rockhold bounced back with a win over David Branch in 2017, then in 2018 lost controversially to Yoel Romero for the interim belt. In 2019, Rockhold moved up to light heavyweight and got his jaw broken by Jan B?achowicz in Round 2.

In October Rockhold said that it was very possible he would never fight again. However, Ariel Helwani reports for ESPN that the now 35-year-old has decided to fight on, "because I felt like it."

Rockhold hinted at being interested in a rematch with Weidman, following his win over Omari Akhmedov on Saturday, although no negotiations have taken place. Rockhold tells Helwani he will split camps between his longtime gym, AKA in San Jose, and with Henri Hooft at Hard Knocks 365 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

I may need a reminder, but what was controversial about the Yoel loss other than Rockhold almost being murdered?

The Rockhold weidman fight was a great back and forth battle, a rematch would be great. Both guys are still revelant at 185 but not good enough to be champs again, probably not top 5. Wideman really struggled against a #11 ranked fighter buy clearly won so he's still top 10. I think Rockhold takes it, he seems to have more left in the tank.

Romero missed weight, so didn't get belt. Kissed him. Was just weird.

I get that missing weight is bad, but that was his first miss and the win was dominant.  Not controversial at all if only the fight is considered

Rockhold is still talented enough to beat anyone at 185. He just needs a different attitude

I would love to see Weidman get a chance to redeem his loss to Luke.

Romero's entire career has been weird.

He's realistically 48 or something nuts like that if you could get a legit birth certificate. Yet his athletic ability is as high as humanly possible.

Strategically, nothing makes sense. Is he not wrestling at all because he doesnt trust his cardio? Does he think his timing and striking distance management is anywhere near as good as his power is?

Why is he totally uninterested in BJJ positioning or subs?

He seems to feel like if a fight is going the distance he doesnt have to feel any urgency and believes he's likely to get the decision for no clear reason.

I just dont get it.

His fight is similar to Mousasi but not nearly as successful. Both of them very stoic and don't seem to give a fuck that they are in an actual fight.
