Was pretty good friend’s with him until I moved away and then lost touch after that.  When I moved back years later I went into the KitKat to see if he still worked there, but they said he’d been gone for a while.  

He was in a bad situation with the IRS and felt he had no way of getting ahead.  Had a girlfriend that fucked him over that he could never get over.

Had a lot of drunken conversations with him.  He had some demons, but was definitely a great guy that had his friends backs.

RIP Paul

Paul actually lived in my area when he was fighting and our paths crossed a few times. Thought I would share a funny story as a tribute. I've never asked for an autograph from anyone, and I've hung out with plenty of fighters, and many other celebrities which might surprise you. But I did wind up asking Paul Varlens for his autograph one night....
